Best wishes, Gary and Luz! (F) I know it must've been a difficult decision to make and you both decided that moving there is the best solution. I do hope you will stay here on VJ to keep us updated and who knows, perhaps you would still petition for her so that if you ever decided to live in the states you could do that also. The prevailing opinion on the Living in Cebu forum is that unless you bring sustainable income with you (retirement or investments) that you will have little chance of maintaining a reasonable lifestyle in the Philippines. Good paying jobs are few and far between and unemployment is high. We are considering moving there in the future, but with a retirement income and healthy savings.

I had to check my calendar and make sure that the date was not April 1st. Apparently this is serious, and you and Luz have discussed everything and decided this is the best way to go. Luz and I have made a decision. Due to things that I would rather not get into we have decided to stop trying for her visa. I am going to give up my job and move there. If they get married, he will immediately qualify for the nonquota 13A resident visa.

Good Luck to both of you. Home is where the heart is, and it looks like P.I. is home for now. Keep in touch with VJ as we all will miss you and your insight. Also, remember that VJ is a good resource if you decide to change your mind later and will use the K-3 visa route.
