Hi all. As you can see in my sig, I recently submitted the AOS and shortly after my husband shipped off the IV application, which should have arrived by now and which I'm 99.99% sure was not missing anything. But yesterday I received an email with a dreaded "checklist" but I can't figure out what it means! It begins with "We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of an application for an immigrant visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents which are indicated as missing or need additional information." And here's what it says on the last page under "Instructions":

______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________

The National Visa Center is waiting for an Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case. The Principal Applicant and any other Applicants who will be accompanying him or her to the United States must now download and complete an Immigrant Visa Application; please visit the following website for instructions:

http://immigrantvisas.state.gov (click on the link for "submit Visa application and civil documents")

Please submit the Immigrant Visa Application form(s) and required supporting documents for each Applicant in one package to the National Visa Center; sending this information separately will delay your visa.

Basically it seems like they are asking me for the ENTIRE IV package, which I've already sent! And supposing they just didn't receive/process it yet, why send me a "checklist" as if there were something missing? Any insight would be appreciated....

Thanks, I hope it is false indeed! I read the page you linked to but couldn't find any info that seemed to pertain to my exact situation. I think I'm going to have to give the NVC a call to get to the bottom of it!

Thanks for the suggestion— actually I just got off the phone with the NVC, I can't believe how easy it is to get someone on the phone, and how polite and helpful they are! I was told my AOS is complete (yahoo!) and they received correspondence on April 6 (surely the IV package) which is under review. The checklist I received was indeed informing me to submit the IV, apparently because they hadn't processed it yet. So I can ignore the checklist and sit back and wait for (hopefully good) news.

I am glad this was resolved for you.

I'd just like to say this exact scenario happened to me as well so you're not alone. I mailed my AOS package, but, due to a delay in obtaining her police clearance, couldn't mail the IV package immediately after. This exact RFE was generated for me.

I can confirm that the NVC system generates this RFE request if it finds that a particular case's AOS processing has been completed, but the IV package has not yet been received/completed (if sent separately from the AOS).

FWIW, when I finally did mail my IV package, I mailed it to the RFE department and NOT the CMR department. I didn't face any issues.
