Thanks for that clarification. I find myself trying to imagine what is going on behind the scenes frequently.

You laugh at the photo (From Raiders of the Lost Ark) but that is pretty much the truth. NOTHING is "going on". Your file is in a box in a warehouse, basically. If the box gets moved it gets scanned, maybe, and you get a "touch" even though no one touched your file. There it sits until your file is in the box "currently being worked on" then it gets opened and adjudicated and an RFE sent or an approval sent. Unless there is some problems withthe background checks, it is over and done in 15-20 minutes, the rest is waitng in line.

And that is exactly why I created the picture; to visually demonstrate why the long waiting time.

Maybe I should put the pic into a separate thread titled "For the newbies...why it takes so long" and subtitled "A glimpse behind the scenes."

It was funny. I am not doubting huh. You already confirmed what I imagined. Thanks for that.

Never an RFE. I followed the Guides and read the instructions for all the forms. This is not that difficult.

I received an RFE. As others have mentioned it is wrong that they don't necessarily want some kind of proof relating to the relationship. In my case it was "circumstances of meeting" and "last personal meeting" as all my carefully assembled email receipts of airfare didn't count (apparently emails aren't valid proof even though the only receipts we had for flights were all email). As others have pointed out it can be anything, what the RFE for you will be will depend on what you submitted and what they feel you are missing. You get lots of time to respond so don't panic. I got all worked up over mine and really didn't need to. Having said that make sure you submit as much proof as possible for whatever it is they ask for so they can approve you. Good luck!

My RFE was over income, so we added a co-sponsor. You have to wait to get you letter and it will tell you exactly what they want. Please note though that your case is on hold the minute they RFE you so the quicker you return the evidence they request, the quicker your case go back in the pile, Good Luck
