I wish to know if at this point, if visiting the Consulate will have any impact as the paperwork was sent back and received in the US February 3. Sometimes I feel like I could make a difference but they have no information from our case, having sent it back. Then I feel like it will be nothing but wasted time.

Has anyone done this after the paperwork was returned, or even what are your thoughts on this?

I have just went through that process. If they just received your petition back in the US in Feb then you are in for a 6 month wait for them to reveiw it. and then 2 more months to get reaffirmed. Check out my post. I wont lie the waiting is Hell. Visiting the Consuate wont help. If it was sent back then they must go through the the entire review. My Congresswoman tried to stop them before they sent mine back but by the time she contacted them they had already sent it back and once it gets here its too late, now u must wait.

Thanks Olami. And I understand we are in for a wait.....But still, I feel like they need to know we are serious, considering what was said to my husband!

I know how you feel. I did go to the consulate and when I finally got inside was told nothing could be done as case was sent back to US. While at the window I had the person notate for me that I strongly disagreed with the consulars decision that my then fiance was only marrying me to immigrate to US. I tried. If nothing else they have my statement on record and that I went there in person to complain. Still a very frustrating process! We are now on to the I-130 petition and I just received text it was received at the Chicago lockbox. The wait begins again.

Take the time now to gather as much evidence as you can. Have your fiance doing the same thing. Phone records from Nigeria are tough to get unless you work for MTN. My husband has been trying for several months now to get his. Even with the required police report and court order.

Nigeria is very tough so do your best to prepare well for the second round. The resources here at VJ are great and I wish we had found this site before we started this process.

Hang in there. If he's a good man than the time spent is well worth it. You learn a lot about one another because this is one of the most stressful things that a couple has to endure.

Thanks! As for for the phone records, does your husband call your cell phone? I use that for records of HIS calls to me, no need for him to try and get records himself. You should check that out if you are using a large carrier, I use Sprint and they log it all on my bill each month, incoming, outgoing and how many texts to Nigeria.

I kind of figured with the case back here it wouldn't do anything other than make my presence known. But it may help in the long run.

And you are so right! This is a fabulous resource and I too wish I had known about it long before the interview took place!

And this stress can only serve to strengthen our bond as husband and wife! It alone is a testament to our love! We have known each other since August of 2008 and still hanging in there, regardless what decision has come down or how long the wait has been!

Good luck to you as well!!! :) Hang in there, they cant say no forever!
