Illinois State ID using EAD

Good morning,

Currently awaiting Green Card, however, we have the EAD card for my wife now. We have a trip scheduled and need to board a plane soon. Tickets purchased are using a married name now, not the name in the international passport. In Illinois, if anyone has done this the same way, can a State ID be acquired using an EAD and a SSN card? The SSN card is the first SSN card we've made which says 'Not authorized for work without DHS authorization' ... something or other.

Short questions is: can a State ID in Illinois, be acquired with EAD and SSN?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply.

Here is how we got a State ID in Illinois and which documents:

* International Passport

* EAD

* SSN

* Letter addressed to petitioner from Department of Homeland Security

* Letter addressed to petitioner from Social Security Administration

All went well. Thanks.

Yes. They just need her passport, SSN and proof of residence.

Proof of residence can be a bank statement and the letter her SSN came on.

Your posts are helpful. Thanks guys.

Latest data point for Chicago (downtown). Wasn't able to get state ID a few months earlier, but as soon as we received the EAD card. No problem at all.

We brought:

- passport

- EAD

- SSN (with address attached)

- DHS letter (second address verification)

In and out within 45 mins (most of the time waiting).
