On the form they are asking for a social security number. Do I need to get my spouse one right away ?

What's a A# ? Do I need to get this ?

My Spouse is from Thailand. So for "Country of Citizenship/Nationality" I should put "Thailand/Thai" ? (This question may sound stupid, but in the VJ example forms they have put numbers here)

Thanks !

No you don't need to obtain an SSN right away, you can safely file AOS without one. The A# is the Alien Registration Number, this is on the NOA2 you received before your case was sent to the consulate you need that NOA anyway to send with AOS packet. As for the last question, your guess is correct, it is Thailand/Thai, some of the example forms are out of date unfortunately :/

You do not have to get her SSN to file for AOS, but I suggest you go ahead and get it if she has at least 2 weeks left before her I-94 will expire. SSN is used for many things, like adding people to bank accounts and insurance policies. She will also need one to go along with her EAD if she is planning on working. If you wait until her I-94 expires, then she won't be able to get one until she has her EAD or green card.

The A# is her Alien registration number. It can be found above her name on the NOA2 approval notice from the I-129F.

Yes, you should put Thailand there. Ha, never noticed it had the example SSN in that space too on the example form.

I just looked on the back of the I-94 paper that's stapled in my Fiance passport. There are (2) markings. First starts with A xxx xxx xxx. The other is all letters starting with CIS xxx : xxx. Would the first one starting with A be her Alien registration number ? Any ideas what the second letters are ?

ONLY trust the K1 petition approval notice (NOA2). While the A number on the I-94 MIGHT be right, it also sometimes is not. Find the NOA2 and look above the beneficiaries name.

I always used the A# on the back of I-94.

It is your Alien number

Well you shouldn't have. It CAN be right but many many times it's been written wrong by the CBP officer. Again, ONLY trust the NOA2. It is always right, anywhere else is open to human error.

I started another thread where I stated I have lost my NOA's.
