The last time they changed the fees the visa fee went from $131 to $340. They probably over priced the fee for cost of materials etc and are dropping it accordingly lol but why question it anyways! its better than them raising it again.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

When do I need to pay this 240? after receive NOA2? Around the interview at the consulate phase of the process , likely a little more than 5 months from now (if all goes well with your petition).

Thank you very much!! I have just started to figure out what to do and will send the paper this week.

If your haven't already, :guides: There is a good timeline given there.

Changes to Visa Fees

Beginning April 13, 2012, changes to visa fees will take effect. All immigrant visa fees will decrease, while the fees for some nonimmigrant visa categories will increase.

Because the Department of State was able to obtain reimbursement under the Economy Act for services performed on behalf of other federal agencies, immigrant visa fees are decreasing.

The application fees will be assessed based on the date of the payment, not on the date of the visa interview. Since the immigrant and K visa fees are decreasing, no refunds will be given to those who paid the fees before April 13, 2012. http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html

This is the best reason I've found.

Actually it does. When I filed the I-129f for Alla it was $455. It was later dropped to $340. We supposedly pay for "actual costs and expenses" of processing. (So why would USCIS be shut down when the government shuts down? ) At any rate, yes, there have been reductions before.
