I know there are some differences in how this process works for husbands petitioning for wives and vice versa. I would like to get a consensus of how wire transfers are perceived by COs when wives are sending to husbands in African countries. If you have been through this process did you use your receipts? If you are going through this do you feel that this shows intermingling of funds between spouses?

Thanks in advance for sharing

I am so glad you asked and I would like to know. I have seen much discussion and many countries no matter its favorable for the USC to send money. However you know when we speak of Nigeria and other African countries all bets are off.

I am the USC and have sent money throughout the almost 3 years now and than. Not a support kind of thing but still money. I will not be presenting any receipts he will have them in case asked if I ever sent. But I feel because I am older, we met online it will look like he has enticed me, woo me into sending him money. If $100 now and than makes them think that we are damned.

Funny I have read men sending thousands to put their foreign spouse through school and paying for homes and cars. We send ?100, $500, $1000 over a year and we are a sham a fake. ugh.. You started something now Olomi_811.

Sending smallish amounts for specific events is OK. Xmas, birthday, major event. Sending more than 10K and they are going to think you have been 419'd. Sending all the time and the same preception. The problem with being a USC female ( especially white) with a Nigerian male is that many of the 419 romance scam victims are so messed up that they will petition their scammer even when they know they are a 20 something Nigierian claiming to have the hots for a 50ish USC. Too much money going there and they will think you are one of those poor desparate women. Too much money coming here and they will think you are a visa mule that is collecting part of the fees up front. Such is going through Nigeria.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

WOW money coming here. Oh boy how do I get one of those guys. Sorry just kidding. So true NigeriaorBust this is Nigeria and well if I send $100 which I did I sent $500 2 years ago so his mum could buy a generator. A shame that would be considered a horrible thing goodness they know what its like Nigeria in the dark.

So do you have to say you sent money or not?. I mean is there a way the can find out.?

Well of course they can just go to Western Union, MoneyGram and check your name if they just really wanted to know whats up. Its not something you have to show but of course when asked "has your USC sent you money or you sent them" honesty must prevail.

But I wouldn't think they are doing wire transfer checks unless they feel you are drug dealing, money laundering. I can't imagine them checking just because its too many of us out there. Ya know.

heres my suggestion.. though we did a fiance visa. puttin race and age aside, since those two factors are lagos CO bias, i think money transfer receipts btw married couples are okay as secondary proofs. but only if those are money receipts startin after marriage date of course. they are also ok if use for bday and other celebrations and u can prove dis. if its transfer btw fiancees, i wld suggestion not to show this at all. u shldnt need diis receipts as ur key proof anyways for a K1 visa. overall, money receipts shld be one of those last set of proofs u want to shw a CO in lagosa unless if pressed especially if u are married with kids for the USC
