Hello all,

Would be grateful for some clarification:

I am a USC who is sponsoring my husband to come back to the USA with me. I am currently employed but don't intend to return to work as I am on maternity leave currently and won't be going back. (Haven't told employer yet though!) We live in the UK but I have kept a USA address (my mom's), have a US driver's license and a US bank account.

Question 1: I am assuming I put zero on the wage line as I am not going to be returning to work and don't have a job lined up in the USA. Is this right?

Question 2: My husband is currently employed in the UK, do we include this income on the current income line on question 24b of the I-864? (He will be starting a business with my sister when we arrive in the USA but won't have an income for some time. Planning on living on our savings and living with my mom)

Question 3: Can I send photo copies of my bank statement and my driver's license with the I-864 form as proof of domicile? I will also have a signed letter from my mother saying we will be living with her free of charge.

Question 4: on ques 8 of the I-864 "I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in part 2" tick yes or no in cases with two joint sponsors. I am assuming I tick yes as my sister will be the only other joint sponsor and her huband (filing I-864A, is a household member)

thank you!

thank you!

1. Yes

2. No. He can not claim income from the UK as that income will not continue once he is in the US

3. Yes. That will help prove domicile. BUT to use the bank accounts as assets, you need a letter from the bank on bank letter head stating the current balance and average monthly balance, and signed by a bank official.

4. Yes, you are sponsoring the principal immigrant who is your spouse.

extra:

If you do not have enough in assets to be 3x over the poverty level, you will have to consider having a joint sponsor.
