Hello everyone, my name is Tabitha and Elvis and I just started the visa process. My fiance is from Kenya and yes I know its funny to have a kenyan named Elvis! lol! We just started the process on Wendsday, April 04, 2012, and we are very nervous but excited at the same time. However, I am very nervous because when i check the processing time for Texas it shows they are 16 months behind but I have seen others who have been through the process in my state as early as december who are being processed and interviewed. I pray that all goes well because it's so hard being away from him and its driving me crazy. Elvis has been my best friend of 2 years and he has always been so postive and loving and he tells me everyday that we will make it through this. I just ask for encouragement from my VJ family and thank you to the admins who made this website! God bless and good luck to you all!!!!........Soon To Be Tabitha Onyango

Please note, your petition will not be adjudicated in Texas. Your petition should have been mailed to the Dallas Lockbox address where they will process the payment and then forward it to either the California or Vermont Service Center. Those are the only two service centers adjudicating on I-129F petitions. Once you receive your NOA1, please update your timeline to include the appropriate service center. This will provide you with an estimate on when your case will be adjudicated and help the overall stats for the rest of us on VJ.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I'm pretty sure Texas falls under VSC jurisdiction.

OP: Check timelines for I-129F at Vermont Service Center. That's where your petition will be processed.

Hi Tabitha,

I'm from Kenya too, everything will be alright, it won't take 16 months. I just wanted to say, to further clarify what has already been stated above, that when you receive your NOA1, you should have a receipt number that starts with the letters EAC or WAC. If your case number starts with EAC, then your case is being handled by the VSC, if it starts with WAC, it is being handled by the CSC. The average waiting time is 5 months to get to the next stage and then schedule for an interview in Kenya afterwards. There is a Nairobi thread that is specifically for people going through this process with the Kenya embassy, that will be useful to join too to hear about others experiences on this journey and specifically in dealing with Kenya. Good luck, make good use of the resources on here and everything will be just fine.

Best of Luck, be patient.

I was as nervous as you are when my husband and i were filing our case. It however turned out to be easier than we thought. The petition might take some time but once approved things start to happen faster. All the best and take it easy.
