Good morning fellow VJers!

Well, my wife just called to inform me that her CR-1 visa was approved at the Islamabad, Pakistan embassy without any AP! She should be receiving her passport in 8-10 days.

I am ecstatic right now and my hands are shaking as I type this. Finally, after 10 long and hard months we will finally be together. I truly Thank God with all my heart for all his blessing and finally getting us through!

A very special thanks goes out to all the VJ members who provided me with invaluable advice during this journey. Both people that answered me directly, and indirectly from information I gathered while reading random posts on this wonderful forum. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you ALL OF YOU!

A brief review:

My wife was at the diplomatic enclave that houses all foreign embassies at 7 am sharp. As soon as she arrived, the bus that takes applicants from the waiting area to the actual embassy was already standing there. The officials rushed her immediately right from the door and hurriedly told her to get on the bus immediately. She barely had time to give her belongings to her parents, quickly check if she had all her documentation and then be ushered in. She reached the embassy, got off the bus and stood in line for Immigrant Visa applicants. When her number came she was told to hand in her sealed medical envelope and appointment letter and then was told to wait in the waiting room. Her interview was scheduled for 8 am but she had to wait until 10 am.

At 10 am she was called by the consular officer, who had all her originals in front of him. There was an Urdu translator standing behind the CO. He first asked her if she would like to give the interview in Urdu or English. My wife chose English, although the translator still stood there for the entire interview, even though my wife chose English.

The CO started the interview and asked her these questions (in no particular order):

Who is sponsoring you?

How did you meet your husband?

What is your relation to your husband?

When was your marriage ceremony?

Where does your husband work and what does he do?

What are your husband's hobbies?

The CO then asked to see our marriage album. My wife had neatly arranged a select number of pictures from our marriage ceremony, time spent together on dates and a few childhood pictures of us together. The CO flipped through the album and asked a few questions about different pictures here and there.

The CO then handed the album back to my wife and also gathered up all of the originals we had sent to the NVC and returned those to my wife as well. He then smiled and told my wife congratulations! Your visa has been approved and you should receive your passport in 8 - 10 days time. He handed her the slip for the American express courier that will be delivering the passport.

And that's that!

Thank you one and all once again. Thank you God almighty and everyone else who's still going through the immigration process...hang in there! My prayers and best wishes are with you all, God bless!
