i just wanna vent out that as much as i was excited to receive my GC today, i think it was quite a mess.. my first name was misspelled entirely, only 3 letters of my first name was encoded, as well as, the CR1 category should have been IR1, since i was given an immigration entry stamp of ir1 upon poe (2 years married prior to arrival to the US.

i was wondering...

has anybody been in the same situation currently?

how long are the processing times now? previous posts were of years ago, and i cannot find current entries...

what would be the next steps i need to do.. i have collated all possible forms and paperworks i need in case i need to send back

do i need to have an info pass to rectify this???

please help :D

Unfortunately USCIS makes some mistakes too. I understand your frustration it really sucks !...

You need to fill I-90 & You have to mark "D" (My existing Card has incorrect data due to USCIS error) on Part 2 Section A.

You have to fill I-90 form with the correct name & have to send your incorrect 10-year Card itself , not the photocopy.

Good news is you do not have to pay anything ( No application fee & No bio fee ) but bad news is it takes about 5 months to replace the GC. It would be better to write a cover letter along with the I-90 form.

Nothing to worry about except more waiting !....By the way, in the mean time if your extension letter expires,

you have to make an infopass to get I-551 stamp on your passport from the local office otherwise you can not even renew your DL.

Good luck & please keep us posted.

Cino got caught up in the cookie cutter response, it happens to everyone. Everything he said is right (but the letter), but you should make an info pass with your local office after you file the form to get the corrected card. Hopefully since it was a mistake they will take care of it fairly quickly, but I honestly don't know.

Sorry I thought you were doing ROC. There is no ROC for you, you get 10-year GC directly. If they (USCIS) made a mistake, it is their problem.

You have to follow the procedures that I have written earlier. Sorry about the misunderstanding. There is NO EXTENSION LETTER for you :)

By the way, receiving GC by entering US as an immigrant takes about 2 weeks, however applying I-90 to replace your GC takes about 5 months.

If you really need to work & drive, I suggest you get I-551 stamp from your local office through InfoPass. Good luck & please keep us posted...

topic has been moved from Removal of Conditions forum to General Immigration forum as OP is not in the process of removing conditions but is qualified for a 10 year green card.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since you have proof of your legal status until February 2013 USCIS won't upgrade your I-551 stamp anyway because it is more than likely you will receive your corrected green card long before the stamp in your passport expires. if, on the extremely unlikely chance that you have not received your corrected green card and you are within one month of the stamp expiring (January 2013, then you would make an appointment at USCIS local office and request a new stamp to be placed in your passport - plus request an investigation as to why your replacement card is taking so long :P .
This is frustrating, but happens far more often than I am sure everyone would like. Make a photocopy of the in error card before you send it back as well so you do have a copy of that for your records. Return the card and the I-90 forum using a method that provides a tracking number or a return receipt so you also have proof when they received it back. Good luck.
Entered end of October IR1 (on a CR1 visa), GC arrived first week in December with a status of CR1. Filed an I-90 (incorrect information, no fees) and included the original card with a cover letter explaining the problem and a copy of the stamp in my passport showing IR1 status. Biometrics taken early January, received new GC last week with correct status.
Received 10 Green card with wrong spelling of first name....
I called the Customer Service line and was told to fill out I90 to have the card replaced. I will be sending supporting docs but I was wondering which office should I mail the form along with the documents?
How long before I get back my green card.
Thanks
