Thats great!!! Well intially when I called the doctor I was planning on making my appointment for May 1st(I know cutting it close, I have to fly to another island to have it done)! However he said that should be fine...I could pick up the results on the morning of the interview. I sat and thought about it and decided it was not worth the risk of delaying my POE if those results are'nt ready in time, so I made it a week earlier!!Now I am relaxed!

Oh wow that really would have been cutting it close! Glad you got an earlier appointment.

Oh no I hope this doesn't mess us up. My husband has no record of vaccionations either.

I don't have a record of vaccinations either. My medical appointment is for the 2nd of May and interview on the 9th, so I'm hoping that should be okay.

It shouldn't be a problem. We just had issues with the Varicella vaccine because they just got a new formula and it hasn't been approved by the Ministry of Health yet. Also, if the beneficiary had chickenpox as a child they don't even need that vaccine, they can just tell the panel physician they already had the illness.

Awesome! Most people don't have any problems but my husband didn't have a vaccination record and vaccinations aren't readily available here in Paraguay so we're having to travel all over the place to get them. He got 3 today and is just missing Varicella and Meningococcus but the good news is that he only has to get each one once so it won't mess up our POE plans at all.

Good luck with everything!

I got mine at International Red Cross and it was easy and fast, more expensive but they are official and valid for international matters like visas. Just an idea! ;)

Thanks, I will look into that!

Does anybody know how long it takes the embassy to give us back the passport with the visa on it???

Depends on the Consulate, for some it's a couple days, others a couple weeks! Try asking other from Colombia.

If you are in Bogota it will take about 3 business days after interview date but if the passport needs to be sent outside Bogota it could take up to 1 week or 7 business days. It is better to have it sent to the DHL office than to a street address (faster to get that way) plus it's free if you pick that choice ... That's what we are going to do because our passport is gonna have to be sent to Barranquilla

By the way... are we supposed to get an email from the consulate when they receive our files? Has anyone checked in with either DOS or the consulate? Should we be receiving additional paperwork or something like that?

Who says you get notified that the consulate received your file? That's not true

Remember that it is a US Department of State Requirement to get the specified vaccinations according to your age and health condition in order to POE into the US. If you don't fulfill that requirement your visa issuance could be delayed.

Thank you so much for the information! I'm in Bogota and my worry is because I want to be with my husband for his birthday which I think won't be possible, his birthday is May 29th and the interview is May 23rd...plus we don't want to lose a ticket so we are thinking what is the best day to fly...

If it is 3 business days, do you think is too risky to fly the 31st...knowing that weekend is Memorial day?

:help:

International Red Cross! It's my advise ;)

That's not an option for me. There is only one place in Dominican Republic where my husband can get his medical done that is accepted. But thanks.
