My Oath Ceremony was yesterday. I can officially say that I am now a US Citizen!

Thanks to everyone who have answered all my questions & good luck to those who are still waiting for their Oath schedules. In some ways, the anxiousness in the waiting will no longer be significant once you are sworn in as a US Citizen.

We just got off the phone with USCIS regarding him still waiting to be scheduled for his oath. She confirmed he is still in line to be scheduled for his oath. lol but frustrating! She said if it goes past 90 days after his interview date which was on July 19th then she would request an update. I know we live in this small town north east of Houston and that is why we arent having his oath ceremony in Houston but over in Beaumont but still ! gosh! Im ready to have a party & get this over with!!!

Wow! That's awful! I thought 45 days was the maximum time you need to wait! I didn't know they can extend it to 90 days! Oh my, I don't think I'll be able to wait that long! I'll be a total mess by then. I hope mine gets here soon. I need to petition my Dad so bad! Good Luck to both of us!

So, I received a letter from the USCIS today saying that I failed to show up for my oath ceremony on 9/21 @ 11AM. Well unfortunately, I never got a letter that's why I didn't show up. So if I call USCIS, would they schedule me for the soonest one or there's an amount of time I have to wait again to be scheduled?

yes call asap! thats another reason I called USCIS this week to make sure hubby didn't already get scheduled for his oath and we didnt know about it. So far, just still waiting to be scheduled.

but for yours that already passed and you never got the letter... call asap!!!

Also, what does the USCIS online status say for you?? Does it still say you are waiting to be scheduled for oath?? Print that out and have it for your records too and when you call USCIS let them know thats what it still says..

Well, I tried calling today and Customer Service is only available Mon-Fri 8a-8p. I checked my online status yesterday and it showed up that it was updated for some reason on 9/27 saying "On September 27, 2012, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283." Now, I am not sure what it read on 9/4 when this new update showed up. So that made me more confused until I received the letter today. The reps that I spoke to on 9/11 and 9/18 are obviously no help even when I pointed out to them that I haven't received the letter itself and both of them told me to wait till 30 days after the status update from 9/4. I can't believe that they cannot see if USCIS actually mailed me a letter and chances are that letter was lost in the mail and never made it to my mailbox.

You need to do the above things as others have explained.

Also,

Call your congressman's office, even though you are still not an US citizen (but a prospective one). Usually there is an aide who will answer your call. Explain in detail, your circumstances and the events that have happened. If you can, take a copy of everything and go to your congressman's office, the aide will note things down. You will have to sign a letter saying that you give permission for them to can call/write on your behalf. They will send a letter to USCIS about what has happened and see if things can be straightened out.

Even if nothing comes out of their letter(s), it will have the benefit of officially being on record and help your circumstances, in the event of any misunderstanding with USCIS late on.

If you can be sworn in by election date, trust me, your Congressman's office will really be motivated to help you out.

Give it a try. I saw in your previous posts that your were in tears. So, I thought that I would offer this advise. It may be an extreme step - the other steps outlined by others at VJ may suffice, but the above idea should be a fallback for you if the situation is not straightened out.

Update: Spoke with Tier 2 Customer Representative today and was able to have my oath letter faxed to me. Oath ceremony will be 10/12/12 @ 9AM. Thank you so much for the advices and the encouragement that you guys had given me. It had been a rough journey and I will truly treasure every lesson I had learned. Hoping my Dad's petition is gonna be a smooth one after this. To all who had not gotten their letters yet, just hang in there. I feel your pain. I'm crossing my fingers for you guys to get your letters. Will update on how the oath ceremony is gonna be. Thank you all once again

still bummed that hubbys status says August 31st placed in Oath Que to be scheduled for an interview and nothing yet! Monday we will call USCIS again and ask them to hurry it up! His interview was July 19th approved then just asked for our 2011 taxes which we sent off by 1 week later... Aug 22nd USCIS updated and said approved, then Aug 31st says in Que.... I want him to be scheduled!!! I know he asked for a name change and we live outside of Houston so we have to have his at a courthouse in another city that handles our county but come on!!!!!
