APRIL 2012 FILERS N-400

If you submitted a copy of a document (tax return etc) in your N-400 packet then make sure you take the original with you to interview. You probably won't need it, but you'll kick youself if they ask for it and you don't have it.

I was required to show the originals as proof that my husband and I had been married for 3 years and lived together. Definitely remember to take your ORIGINAL transcripts for the last 3 (or 5) years to prove that you qualify!

@rocks: Thank you for the Information. Did they give you new SS Card with a new SS Number or the same Social Security Number and the card did they'll give there itself or they are going to mail it? How much time it may take generally at the Social Security office..... Any idea?

They mailed me a new card with the same number. It took about 7-10 days. I have no idea how long it would take at your office, sorry. It depends on how big it is. The one here is quite small, it took less than an hour.

On my phone, so can't update the list (can someone do it for me?).

My wife just passed her test/interview in san antonio! Whoop!

Oath ceremony is next thurs 8/23 for her...super fast...very happy!

I just finished my exam about an hour ago. My appointment was at 10 am, and I got there about 15 mins earlier just to be on the safe side. I think I was finally called in at about 10:45 (finally!!). I did bring copies of our tax returns for the past 3 years, bank statements, deed of purchase of the house. The officer went over the application with me, asked me a few questions about where i work, adddress, DOB, SSN#, a few basic questions. She asked if my married was still good, etc. She also asked if I had anything new to add to my file, so I did give her a copy of a recent bank statement, I noticed she did not look at it very much just added it to my file. Then she printed out a sheet with the questions, I had been studying forever and felt that I knew them well.

Funny enough, I guess I was so anxious to get the questions over with I can't remember the rest! LOL

Ok, just now back by a computer so I can write more. The interview was apparently super simple. They didn't ask for anything in support of our marriage...not my passport, not our marriage license, not bank statements, not tax returns...nothing! Of course we had included copies of all those things with the original application.

They pretty much asked her the 6 questions, did the little writing test, and asked a few questions about her home country. Poof--recommended for approval, and oath ceremony to be on August 23. They said that "the lady" who normally prints out their oath letters wasn't in today, so they are going to mail it to her. That sounded odd to me, but hey, whatever works for them.

Yea I passed my interview. :dance: It went super quick too. I got there 30 minutes early and there were 4 others in the waiting room. It took awhile and finally at 10 I got called in. She swore me in and then went through my application to make sure everything was correct. Then she handed me a paper and asked me to read it, "When is Columbus day?" Then she took that away and asked me to sign the next paper and as she dictated I wrote the answer to that question. Then she started asking the questions;

In what month do we vote for Presdent

How many members in the house of representatives

how long is their term

who is the father of our country

who is the Chief Justice

How many US senators are there.

That was it I answered all 6 right. She said congratulations I'm recommending you for citizenship. Stamped a letter to show I passed and told me within the next 60 days I should be recieving my Oath letter. She said the letter comes just 2 weeks before the oath ceremony happens. I got back to work and started taking down my post-it-notes with answers to questions, my wall looks very bare again. :blush:

Yea I passed my interview. It went super quick too. I got there 30 minutes early and there were 4 others in the waiting room. It took awhile and finally at 10 I got called in. She swore me in and then went through my application to make sure everything was correct. Then she handed me a paper and asked me to read it, "When is Columbus day?" Then she took that away and asked me to sign the next paper and as she dictated I wrote the answer to that question. Then she started asking the questions;

In what month do we vote for Presdent

How many members in the house of representatives

how long is their term

who is the father of our country

who is the Chief Justice

How many US senators are there.

That was it I answered all 6 right. She said congratulations I'm recommending you for citizenship. Stamped a letter to show I passed and told me within the next 60 days I should be recieving my Oath letter. She said the letter comes just 2 weeks before the oath ceremony happens. I got back to work and started taking down my post-it-notes with answers to questions, my wall looks very bare again.

Yay! Congratulations! Now you can go back to having "normal" dreams. :lol:

They mailed me a new card with the same number. It took about 7-10 days. I have no idea how long it would take at your office, sorry. It depends on how big it is. The one here is quite small, it took less than an hour.

@rocks: Thanks so much for the info. Today I went to SS Office. They said they'll mail the new SS Card and that it may

take 7-10 business days.

Ok, just now back by a computer so I can write more. The interview was apparently super simple. They didn't ask for anything in support of our marriage...not my passport, not our marriage license, not bank statements, not tax returns...nothing! Of course we had included copies of all those things with the original application.

They pretty much asked her the 6 questions, did the little writing test, and asked a few questions about her home country. Poof--recommended for approval, and oath ceremony to be on August 23. They said that "the lady" who normally prints out their oath letters wasn't in today, so they are going to mail it to her. That sounded odd to me, but hey, whatever works for them.

I hope it didn't take too long? Now that you have that part out of the way you can send off for your passport and register to vote. How exciting! :dance:

That part scared me too. It wasn't "official" until that was over. Be prepared to be there for 1.5 hours. You might get lucky and be forced to sing!
