There are no other factors. It is as simple as that. As I previously stated, he didn't have a GC. How is he supposed to prove he is here legally? It's really not complicated. You should read what I quoted in my previous post. Here it is again.

How can you prove you are here legally with no GC? :bonk:

I really don't see why you are making such a big deal about this. You should go to the SS office and change your status, there is no reason not to go other than wanting to argue on the internet.

Rocks, nobody is disagreeing with the need to update social security of your new status. You made the point that his ss benefits were denied because he was not a citizen. And that is impossible if he were in this country legally (as I have outlined previously). That is all. You are the only one making a big deal about this. Obviously other factors are in play in this situation. Just wanted to make sure that a common myth was not perpetuated on vj. That is it, I am done.

"Other factors"? Again, what "other factors"? How can he prove he is in the country legally if they think he is a LPR and he doesn't have a GC? It is nothing to do with VJ, this is real life.

Wow, I had a messed up dream last night, lol.

So I'm in this building that has a multi level covered car park. I have no idea where this is but I know I'm at an immigration office. I'm talking to people as we wait and someone asked me if I have signed in yet. I replied no and they said I'd have to have my letter with me to do it. Somehow I left it out in the car so I go and get it.

When I get back there is a gate much like the security at the airports with a big black box at the top that is counting down the seconds before they close, if you get inside before they close your ok. Its counting down 3 -2 - 1 , I start going inside as it shows zero. The immigration guy shakes his finger at me and tells me no, its too late to come in. I tell him I have an interview appointment and wave my letter. He sighs and lets me in.

I'm standing at the counter while he goies through my stuff and this preist comes up to me and hands me a bible and tells me to hold it in my left hand and with my right finger make the sign of the corss on the cover. While I'm doing this he startes talking and reciting something and then says congratulations your now an American.

Then I woke up, lol I have never had such a messed up dream like that before. BTW my interviews on Monday, think that had anything to do with this dream?!

I had some weird dreams leading up to my interview too. I think as ~PalmTreeGurl~ said, you're just anxious and excited! Don't worry, you'll be fine. The wait in the waiting room is far worse than the actual interview. I was frantically listening to the cd on the way there and repeating the answers but it turned out that the questions were really easy! Do you have all your paperwork in order? Try and relax in the meantime and do some revision of the questions. I wish you lots of good luck for Monday!

If SSA thought he was a lpr he would not have been denied ss benefits. See previous explanation. I will repeat it again, his status, as long as he was here legally, is irrelevant for obtaining ss retirement benefits. We already went over that more than once. Hence, the reason for his denial had to have been something else than him not updating SSA of his citizenship. Therefore, the was another factor causing the denial.

I'm glad you know everything about this person's experience.

Very mature

Just because you read something on the internet, it doesn't negate real life experiences. He didn't maintain his LPR status as he was a citizen. He claimed to be a citizen and they had no record of it. It's really not complicated. Stop arguing for the sake of it.

Read something on the Internet? If you recall, this argument started because you were saying you needed to be a citizen to receive ss benefits. Which is simply not the case. Next time learn the SSA rules and get your facts straight before you start spouting incorrect information. :bonk:

I said they need verification that you are a citizen. If they think you're an LPR and you haven't maintained your status as one, how can you claim? It's really not complicated, yet you keep arguing the same irrelevant information.

Yeah the lady just collected a copy of the certificate and that was it.

I sent my form to the address that was provided for my county .

I will wait and see what happens as well.

Just so you know, I got TWO voter registration cards today, not sure why I got two! Hopefully this means you should get yours soon! :)
