Same here! Can't believe it is finally over. Good luck everyone.

To everyone who has had their oath ceremony already, did they make you sing Lee Greenwood - God Bless the USA? My husband played me this song after my interview as a joke, then it turned out to be a song in our oath ceremony.

No, they did not make us sing it, but they put a video with it.

I just came back from the interview today. And I passed hoo hoooo :dance:

The officer was nice and calm. I think she interviewed me when i was at AOS process, but not so sure.

So first off we went through my application. Then she told me to stand up and read out loud the Oath of Allegiance and asked me the meaning of the Oath.

Then she asked me to read a question and write down the answer. Then she asked me 4 questions only, not 6.

Then she asked if I have any more documents I would like to give her. So I gave her the receipt for my speeding ticket payment, some recent bills and bank statements. And she gave me a paper for me to keep. On that, the A point was marked: Congratulations ...

And she said I would receive my oath letter around August or September.

I checked the oath ceremony schedule and saw one on Aug 24th. I hope I will receive my letter in no time say that I am schedule for that day. (Or it would be even better if they have something earlier than that) :)

where do you go about finding out oath ceremony schedules? And ive been looking here on visajourney for those that gone through Houston for the interview but none of them so far had there oath ceremony done in beaumont. I know of a co worker who did hers many years ago and had her oath ceremony in beaumont. Adams interviewer told him his oath would be at the Beaumont Courthouse and he'd get a letter in the mail of the time/date... but so far no updates on uscis for his case number... it still says hes scheduled for his interview...

Heres what the one in Beaumont Tx says,

Naturalization ceremonies in the Eastern District of Texas are usually held in the courthouses of either Beaumont or Tyler, or in the U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services facility in Irving, Texas. Ceremonies are set when USCIS has enough applicants to hold a ceremony.

On the day of the ceremony, applicants are processed by USCIS Officers. Each petitioner should bring the U. S. Issued "green card," U. S. Issued visas and all other travel documents. A petitioner who is not fluent in English, but who is age 55 or older and has a U. S. permanent residency of more than 20 years, may be accompanied by someone who can interpret in the petitioner’s native language.

Everyone is expected to comply with federal court rules and any other rules of the Court. Please remain quiet during the proceedings and stand when the judge enters or leaves the courtroom. If you must leave while court is in session, please exit quietly. Children are welcome, but if they become unruly or loud, they must be taken out of the ceremony. This is an important day for all the applicants.

My Naturalization Application Approved!!

The lady IO was very pleasant.

Swore me in and asked for my ID, green card and passport.

She gave me the civics test first. Followed by English test.

1) How many years do we elect a senator?

2) What does the cabinet do?

3) In case of president and vice presidents inability, who takes over?

4) How many justices are there in the supreme court?

5) What did the declaration of independence do?

6) Can't recall the sixth one.... If I remember I will update the post.

She made me read a sentence in English and write one sentence in English.

Interview date is fast approaching and I'm just a wreck. Seeing the questions here and me answering to it gives a little bit of confidence eventhough its completely random. Feel free to post your interview questions. With how my work had been this month (working almost 16 hours per day and working every other weekends), I don't have any time at all to study. :crying:

@cEzYcHiC: You'll do fine. Just take the printed questions wherever you go & start memorizing them whenever you find some time.

I posted my questions. May God Bless You!!! :star::star::star:

Hello everyone. Please help me update my timeline. I passed the interview on July 23 and had the oath taking ceremony on the same day. My office was in Newark. Yes, I was there the whole day. My appointment for interview was at 9AM. I arrived at 8:45, got called for the interview at 11:45AM. Before I was allowed to go inside the interview area, I was asked by the officer for my ITR, birth cert of my child, marriage cert, and proof of residence. I applied for naturalization based on my husband who is a US citizen. She asked me for the original copy of my husband's naturalization cert., I didn;t have it because my husband told me they would need only a copy! The officer, who was also from my home country, was so strict. I thought she wouldn't approve my application! She never smiled at all. I felt like I was a kindergarten pupil terrorized by my teacher. She asked for proof of residence and I fortunately brought our bill of statement for the car that my husband and I bought. Both of our names were there, but she said that wasn't enough. She insisted that I show her utility bills. I didn't bring any. I told her my husband pays for the utility bills & the bills were addressed to him so I didn't bring the bills. I told her I thought you needed proof of my address only. She reasoned that I needed to provide evidence that we are still living together. She also asked me for a copy of our house lease. Of course, I didn't have that, too. She asked me why I didn't bring the documents she was asking me for and I simply said, "I apologize that I wasn't able to bring those with me. I honestly didn't really give much thought that they would be needed." I was prepared for her to tell me to go home and re-apply. Lastly, she asked me where my husband was. She was reading my face and I knew she saw it in my face that I was calculating where could he be at that time. I said, "He must be in Jersey City by now. He drove me here and will come later to pick me up. Should I call him and tell him to come? However, I don't think he brought the utility bills with him either." I knew she was kinda irritated with me already. She then asked, what is the date of this bill of statement for the car? I showed her that it was dated for next month. At that point, she let me in. During the interview, she also asked me how I supported myself, blah!blah!blah! I was surprised that she approved my application. I said a soft "Thank you" as I left her desk, and she said, "You're welcome." with still no smile on her face. Interview lasted only 15 minutes. I finished at 12noon. I got called again at 2pm for the green card, thrn at 3pm we had the oath taking. Finally, it's over.

Congrats to all those who passed the interview. Good luck to those who are about to have theirs. Thank you everybody for all your helpful posts. God bless America!
