Here's my husband's experience in Philly.

His appointment was for 11:30 and he got there around 11:00. He didn't wait long since there were not many people there. He was asked for his greencard, passport and the interview letter (which the IO kept). The IO went over the N-400 and asked him the yes/no questions. I don't remember the test questions but he got 7/7 and had to write and read a sentence. Then the IO said congratulations and gave him the letter for the oath ceremony.

All in all it was 10 minutes and less stressful than any other part of the process.

Goodbye immigration!!!!

Nope. No questions about the marriage at all. My husband had the deed to our house, marriage certificate and birth certificate for our son and he was not asked for any of it.

Quick question: I saw a couple posts saying that they need to bring originals for their tax returns upon interview. I only have copies of the ones that we get after they are filed. Can I just bring those or they need to come from IRS?

You need tax transcripts, not the print outs of your returns. Did you use transcripts for ROC? You can order transcripts really easily from the IRS and they're free. If you have moved house since you filed (I think you have), then you won't be able to apply for them online. You can get them by calling IRS or going to your local IRS office.

I got the interview letter today, after all the changing status(es) yesterday @ the USCIS website. Relieved! Date of letter is 6/19/12. Date of interview is 8/3/12 @ San Antonio.

Can someone update my changes, please.

Just trying to relax a little bit.... I am more anxious than nervous.... got my interview scheduled for 3:00 pm today in San Antonio and was looking around and thankfully seems the process is very friendly thanks VisaJourney people!!!

I cant believe how time goes so fast... I can still remember myself making K1 visa questions some years ago and now I am almost done with Citizenship

Does anyone knows if Russia has any issues with double citizenship???

The concept of dual nationality means that a person is a citizen of two countries at the same time. Each country has its own citizenship laws based on its own policy.Persons may have dual nationality by automatic operation of different laws rather than by choice. For example, a child born in a foreign country to U.S. citizen parents may be both a U.S. citizen and a citizen of the country of birth.

A U.S. citizen may acquire foreign citizenship by marriage, or a person naturalized as a U.S. citizen may not lose the citizenship of the country of birth.U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one citizenship or another. Also, a person who is automatically granted another citizenship does not risk losing U.S. citizenship. However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it may lose U.S. citizenship. In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship.

Intent can be shown by the person's statements or conduct.The U.S. Government recognizes that dual nationality exists but does not encourage it as a matter of policy because of the problems it may cause. Claims of other countries on dual national U.S. citizens may conflict with U.S. law, and dual nationality may limit U.S. Government efforts to assist citizens abroad. The country where a dual national is located generally has a stronger claim to that person's allegiance.

However, dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries. Either country has the right to enforce its laws, particularly if the person later travels there.Most U.S. citizens, including dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States. Dual nationals may also be required by the foreign country to use its passport to enter and leave that country. Use of the foreign passport does not endanger U.S. citizenship.Most countries permit a person to renounce or otherwise lose citizenship.

Information on losing foreign citizenship can be obtained from the foreign country's embassy and consulates in the United States. Americans can renounce U.S. citizenship in the proper form at U.S. embassies and consulates abroad.

I thought a US citizen had to show their US passport when they left the country?

Most U.S. citizens, including dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States. Dual nationals may also be required by the foreign country to use its passport to enter and leave that country.

I haven't traveled outside the US for over three years now, so I don't remember. But when I take my wife to JFK Terminal 1 to fly to Russia, she shows her Russian passport to the airline at check in, then shows it again going through the TSA checkpoint to get to the gate. I can't go with her to the gate since I don't have a boarding pass, but I assume she just shows the boarding pass when the plane is boarding. I can't verify this -- recent travelers might offer their experience.

If she didn't have a Russian passport she'd probably have to show a Russian visitor's visa and US passport to the airline and the US passport at the TSA checkpoint.

Yes, that sounds right, they love looking at our passports! :lol: She is not a US citizen so her only option is to show her Russian passport. I'm pretty sure once you become a US citizen you must use that to exit the country. She can use her Russian passport upon arrival in Russia to get through immigration there. When she returns to the US she will need to travel on her US passport and not her Russian one. Maybe someone else has advice on this?
