There's a drop down menu that says "all food categories". You can put something in the text box next to it or you can use the drop down menu and the text box.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Interesting, thanks ;) I try to pay attention to what goes in my stomach and my bloodstream! If possible, I shop for organic food. "What you eat is what you are" is a French saying. Eat healthy helps you stay healthy ;)

I am not obsessed with fat and calories, but since there is a history of diabetes in my family, I try to match my weight (I'm only 120 lbs but still) - although I am aware that this strategy won't necessarily inflluence the evolution of my genes positively...

Sometimes I think I know everything, and I regain consciousness. Seen it all, done it all, forgot most of it....

So much plenitude, yet so much emptiness

Thanks for posting the link. However, it seems to be targeting those who live of processed and ready-made foods. For example, when looking for mustard, I found out that they only list "yellow mustard" that I assume to be the highly-processed bright yellow stuff and that is not very high quality (too much salt, too much sugar, artificial coloring, etc.) I got similar results for vinegar (only two kinds) both of which contain too many non-essential ingredients. There are also no nutritional values for standard pantry items such as dried pulses. Finally, the only "ethnic foods" they list are Native American prepared foods which I find weird given the high number of other ethnicities in the country.

Sorry to be so critical but I would really like to find a calorie-counter that worked for those of us who shop the outside aisles of the supermarket...

WTH? Made me look!

I just want to know what grad student came up with the project of measuring the nutritional value of young willow leaves.... (not to mention the beluga whale eyes!).

This is just one tool of many. The truth is that most Americans eat processed foods. If you are eating healthy/organic food then you don't even need this tool.

It's a great deterrent just to look up the nutritional value of fast food.

You are right; once you realize what you actually eat whenever you gorge on a burger and some fries at McD's, you feel the need to change your life. Eating healthy food is definitely better for you, but it would stilll be convenient to have some nutritional information just in case you're on a diet or in case you need one nutrient more than others.
