I am a muslim and did AOS from F1 although my name does not sound muslim at all. But Senegal is a country at majority muslim so I'm sure I would be assumed Muslim before anything else. No question was even asked about my beliefs. Only question I was asked were if I attended any other school beside the ELS school I had on my F1 visa. They were more concerned about my relationship with my wife.

The only ones who would really scrutinise u being muslim might be the FBI during backgroud check. If your background passed really u should be ok. If I was you my bigest concern would be to succed in proving your genuine relationship with your wife. If you get so tense that u can't even answer simple questions about your relationship I really dont care what your beliefs are. It will raise flags.

Just be yourself. Dont over do anything. answer as short and precise as possible. I know being Muslim is not the most popular thing to right now in America... But I dont think you will be driled for being a servant of Allah.

May He facilitate you guys on your path... Amin!

Oh for god's sake. This is just getting weirder and weirder. I would kindly suggest that further such posts would go into the General Discussion Area forums - there is one particularly for politics and religion.

Also, I do think it is a bit odd for someone to be so freaked out about being Muslim - there are almost 3 million practicing Muslims in America. There are probaby tens of thousands of Muslims who have immigrated here. Going through AOS is no joke for anyone - Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish. I am an agnostic and my husband sees himself as an atheist, and US is a very religious country, but not once did I think that our believes, or lack there of, would have anything to do with our immigration process. And it didn't.

Time to chill out.

Okay. thank you so much. we married at city hall, no wedding. just me and him. our world is perfect when it's just me and him and my son. things get really complicated when involving family. so most of our photos are of me and him. or my son and him. not really of the extended family. so i was concerned cause we didn't have a wedding. thanks for your timeline and for your info. it's really appreciated.

~Saudiwife

I adjusted from B2, but we have one thing in similar. I had my wedding at Thai temple in USA and had only me, my husband and his 2 kids. I had only 1 picture from the wedding to submit (together with other evidences). So don't worry about it.

I understand your nervousness but don't let it ruin your life. Being nervous doesn't help much, be prepared and collect all the evidences to prove your relationship and if your marriage is legit, there is nothing to be worried about though. (F) (F)

saudiwife, we were all very nervous when going through this process. It is nerve-wracking, because it is so important to your future. However, the vast majority of us had no issues at interview, the I/O is usually very professional while still being quite friendly. I look back now and realize I had nothing to worry about, and wish I hadn't gotten so stressed over it. Of course, I have to remove conditions right away, so I might go back to being that old stress-monkey! Just stay calm, and try to enjoy life with your husband.
