Hello all,

Quick question.

My husband and I live in my grandmother's basement apartment. Her house is about 1 mile from my parents.

We have ALWAYS used my parents address as our address. It's on our drivers licenses, we use it for all mail and correspondance, and we used it to file taxes ect.

For evidence we have included a rental agreement with my grandma (which obviously states the address where she lives). I was just wondering if you all thought this might raise a flag. -That we are stating we "reside" at one place and then all of our addresses and things are for another address. This isn't a red flag in the sense that one of us has one address and the other another, everything we have (except the rental agreement) are at my parents address (for both of us!).

So here's are my options:

1) leave it as is and just don't even mention it because they probably won't even notice and if they do, they probably won't care

2) leave it as is and include an explanation to the affect that we reside with my grandma, but use my parents address for everything

3) Take out the rental agreement as part of the evidence (we probably really don't need it!) and only include my grandma's affadavit which states that we live with her, but doesn't have an address. This option takes away all confusion since as far as they will know, my grandma lives at the address we have on everything.

Keep in mind, on the petition (I-751) it asks for address and also a mailing address. When I filled it out I just put my parents address because, again, that's what we use for everything!!! I didn't want to put my grandmas address there and then all of our other stuff have another address (like our bank statments, drivers licenses, mail, taxes, ect).

Anyway, I'm sure I'm thinking about this too much and wanted some other opinions!

Thanks!

Marina-Del I have a similar situation as I used my sister's home address for tax purposes but live at another address. The reason is I live in an apartment and didn't want any correspondence from the IRS to get lost because while I was looking for work we were moving around a lot.

I did get an RFE as my signature indicates but I don't think it was because of the address difference as this wasn't mentioned. I just submitted more evidence including the tax returns and didn't mention the discrepancy. I don't know if I should have or not but I have been sweating this a lot the past few days however I prefer to address this particular thing if the USCIS mentions it and not otherwise.

Thanks for the reply wasabi! I'm sure you are right and that is not why you got the RFE, but good to know.

Right now I'm leaning toward just not including the rental agreement (we have SOOO much other evidence anyway) and only including the affadavit from my grandmother. The rental agreement was made up by me and her a couple nights ago anyway, so it's not even that binding! The affadivit from her says that we've been living with her since June 2010. And like I mentioned above, they won't really know (or care) that her address is different than the address we've indicated on everything else.

I want to mail this off tomorrow, so if anyone has any other insights, please respond ASAP!

Thanks

Well, application is ready to mail tomorrow.

I decided to take out the rental agreement and just use my grandmothers affadavit as proof that we rent her basement. All of our docs have the same address on them for both of us. It's pretty obvious looking at everything that we live together.

Will update here if I receive an RFE!
