I didn't see it either

http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/visas/visas/fianc-k-1-visas/appointment-checklist.html

It shows on the portal page here that you bring an I-134 to the interview but thats contrary to what the consulate is saying. I'd bring the I-864 if it were me.

Looks like someone needs to do some housekeeping in the Canadian portal, eh?

Good luck at your interview!

For Montreal all you need is the I-134. I had my interview in November 2011 and I only took the I-134. The I-864 is for the Adjustment of Status as it is a legally binding contract between the US citizen and the government. I just sent in the I-864 with my AOS paperwork. Hope the helps.

I did some more looking and it's no wonder you are confused. The website says one thing and the P-3 letter says something different all together. Here http://photos.state....ket3-k1-mtl.pdf

I'd would have a hard time not pointing that out to the CO (after your interview of course).

I just notice that, What i have is revised as of 11/2011, and it states I-864, but what you send it states I-864. Even with the I-864 which one do you fill, it seems like there are several. I am really confuse lol

Looks like smiley-one has some recent experience so you should be fine with the I-134. While it is true that most consulates use the I-134 for K-1 visas I believe there are those that require an I-864. Having both filled out and in a folder wouldn't do one bit of damage. If there is a conflict within their published information there could be conflict within their staff's knowledge.

I'm surprised none of the Canadian veterans hasn't popped in with a confident "yes or no" yet. They are usually lurking around every corner.

Moved to the Canada forums for proper answers on a country specific issue. Specially Montreal.

I emailed the Montreal consulate to ask this very question for my interview later this month. For the K-1 visa, they want the I-134.

My message to them:

"I have been gathering documentation in preparation for my interview for a K1 visa at the Montreal consulate. Up until 10 days ago, the required Support documentation was listed as the I-134, but now the checklist for the interview (in the Packet 3 documentation) lists the I-864, I-864A, I-864EZ, or I-864W. Could you please confirm that the I-134 is no longer acceptable for the K1 visa process and that the I-864 is what is now required?"

Their response:

"Please kindly be informed that the Affidavit of Support applicable to your visa category is the I-134. We hope this information is helpful to you."

The K-1 Visa journey for myself and my two K-2 children:

K-1: NOA1 2011-8-10; NOA2 2012-1-12; Interview 2012-4-24; Visa issued 2012-9-17; POE (Sarnia) 2012-9-26; Wedding! 2012-10-02
AOS: NOA1 2012-11-20; Biometrics 2012-12-14; AP/EAD approved 2013-1-11; Interview 2013-1-31; 2-yr Green cards in hand 2013-2-9 (101 days total)

ROC: NOA1 11-7-14; Biometrics 12-1-14; 10-yr Green cards ordered 4-13-15! (157 days total)

Counting down to naturalization time!

Please check the most recent posts in the K1 for Montreal guide stickied at the top of the forum. I cross posted CA dreamer's e-mail to the consulate there.

K1s bring I-134s. I-864 is for when you adjust status.

Thanks guys, this is all good to know. I also was getting my fiance to prepare the I-864, but the forms were confusing... so we did a double take... on second look at the packet 3 requirements for K1 it says the affidavit of support required is the I-134.
