Im glad you gave examples that include" my wife" and "my husband" because I consider that very equivalent to "my Filipina."

You seem to be saying that all three of those expressions objectify the person referred to.

I disagree and since there are only two words in each expression, there is only so much you can say about them.

It seems self evident to you that these are bad expressions

and self evident to me that they are not.

I think on this one we just have to agree to disagree.

I don't disagree with you completely, IMO, your comment...using "my Filipina" let's others know your "part of the club" (so to speak).

Let me hit the drum one more time and see if this helps clarify my (often but not always) POV...,

Next time you are at a social gathering or any situation that requires an introduction...how 'bout...you introduce your wife as ..."my Filipina"....like this..."Hello, this is my Filipina...I'm her Kano...my Filipina's name is Judy (I'm Dan)..we are married"....I think you will get many    reactions. :hehe:

Again...I appreciate your feedback on this because I don't think it's a blanket one size fits all issue. I think there are times that it is inappropriate and vice versa.

So, my wife is objectifying me? Thanks for the heads up!

IMO, if she sometimes refers to you as...my Kano..then yes, she is objectifying your heritage. Question is...is that a bad thing? IMO...somtimes yes sometimes no.

Good Luck with this topic - I pray you get a myriad of different responses !

Thanks Darnell. :)

I've been hoping you would drop by and chime in.

Damn! I done been objectified!! I come home from working a 16 hour day and I find the proof laying right on my very own bed.

Judy has been keeping a journal and there it was in black and white. "My husband woke up early" My husband!!!! how could she do this

to me. The proof is in the pudding. Turn your back for one minute and right away they start objectifying you. Now I'm not saying

all Filipinas are like this but I'm begining to have my suspicions. After all I've done for her!!!! That's the thanks I get.

I feel so dirty

I never stated being objectified is always a bad thing.

These types exist everywhere in the world , its up to the women to judge the guy she meets and determine if he is like this before she marries or gets involved.

In many reverse cases , its the man thats the "product" and used for money or as a cash cow only and not respected at all.

So it really comes down to the person over all

 Bingo! (and) That's why (most but not all) blanket statements about someone as a member of a culture are fallacious and degrading.

Example of acceptable..... Many Filipino's speak multiple dialects.

Example of unacceptable... Filipinas have hot tempers.

I just searched the "Filipina kisses" website where I met Judy and there are 40,146 women members vs

22,137 males, almost twice as many women as men. It is Primarily Filipinas and foreign men from more affluent countries.

What percentage of those are females are actually Filipinas actually looking for a LTR? How many are just scammers looking to string along some foreigner, to keep those Western Union transfers coming? It may seem like the odds are in the men's favor, until you realize each of the authentic and desirable females get multiple suitors, as do the posers taking unsuspecting victims for a ride. You use those services at your own risk, whether it is Filipina Kisses (clue you are about to kiss your money good-bye!) or Russian Brides or even Match-Dot-Com.

Yes and you just objectified her by referring to her as "my wife":o

"My wife" refers to a relationship between two people... "my brother", "my dad", "my sister" are all examples.

I don't see how "my Filipina" or "my Pinay" fall into the same category.

I call her "m'hija". She says, "I am not your m'hija! I am your wife!"

Because a woman...is not..equal..to you...? Because...if I am understanding ...(I'm not sure if I am and that's why I'm asking questions...to get clarification before I counterpoint, if needed, some of your comments)

But if I am understanding your post correctly ...You are "superior" and your wife is inferior(to you)....is that right?

I hope you will answer some or all of my questions. I am sorry if I'm not catching your meaning quickly but I just want to make sure I really understand.

"All men are created equal" was a slogan for a revolution, not a truth.

The guy that wrote it owned slaves and was sleeping with one who was actualy the half sister of his wife. lol (I'm afraid he was a predator)

Any way we (Americans) have enshrined those words and expanded the meaning to actually include women.

You can say it but it don't make it so.

You need to state a catagory when speaking of inferior or superior

Judy would be superior to me in speaking tagalog and ilongo.

she would have superior patience, She is much better at cutting up fish and pulling weeds.

she is more loving

Other than that I have trouble thinking of things she would be better at.

I can run faster, climb higher, yes I can even swim.

I can earn more money, I can drive a car, I can ride a bike.

Other than rice and fish, and a coconut desert ,

I have taught her what she knows about cooking

Im superior in math skills, I know more history

She has trouble dealing with computer stuff even when her son who went to school for computers

trys to explain it to her.

Some of my superiorities would be due to being male, The majority would be due to training and experience.
