April 19 here and going equally insane over this proccess. I'm no expert but I believe denials can be for blatant things such as former marriage not being desolved or filing before the legal termination. Also for things such as not meeting in person in the past 2 years etc. I think it is typically for things that totally do not follow the guidelines and not simply for something that requires a RFE. As for the waiting for 6 months to find that out, well no one has looked at the files in 6 months LOL so hopefully we all prepared our forms and documentation properly. Seems today was a slow day at VSC based on the non-posting of approvals.......waiting, waiting, waiting

You are spot on. Denials come when someone is simply not qualified for whatever reasons. The most common one I have seen here is not meeting within 2 years (or complete lack of evidence to support it). Pending divorces could be another biggie and history of multiple petition filings. I'd say that most people that have met the guidelines of meeting in 2 years and being free to marry wouldn't be denied as long as they submitted things to show these qualifications. Most things really can be settled with an RFE though.

Thanks, you are right... I forgot all about people being married before filing for K1... I think I should get a glass of wine and relax a little bit.

Oh, and yes! So far just 2 approvals on Igor's list today... never hated weekends like I do now!

Had the exact same thought this morning. For a person working 2-3 jobs for the last bazillion years it's pretty shocking to come to a realization of an idea that lately she started HATING weekends...:D

According to Igor's list, we should get our approval next week. Oh my god, I'm so looking forward to Monday!!!

Is it just me, or is the last stretch of waiting even harder than the 6 months prior??? I can't breathe every time I look at the website, and whenever I see "Initial Review" staring back at me, disappointment weighs like a rock. But ten minutes later, eternal optimism forces me to check again.

Because if approval comes this week, there might still be a chance to have him here for the holidays....if all the stars align. Heck, us VCS April filers are due for a break!

No, it is not just you! I was going insane and so was my fiancee. Even knowing I had a week before reaching the 6 months mark, after 5, I was starting to unravel. I lost all motivation to do any of my daily obligations. Hang in there! I know you probably feel that it is so close you could taste it at this point, and it more than likely is!

I received the NOA2 letter today.

NOA2 text: 10/10/12

NOA2 letter: 10/15/12

They didn't waste any time getting it in the mail, and USPS was obviously on top of their game as well. Very fast to my surprise!

Igor's List is found under 'Immigration Timelines' at the top menu of the site. You can toggle some options there to see the past year's worth of noted VJ approvals. The top 15 are the most recent updates.

Refer to the 'Guides' at top. The K-1 guide tells you what you need to do for interview preparation. You can also view a time flow chart of the process. The next step is obtaining your case number from NVC. They will send out a confirmation letter that they received your petition and sent it to your consulate. However, you can call them about a week after approval, and they will probably have it by then. If they have received it, they can give your case number over the phone. With that, you can pay the fee and begin other steps. Refer to your consulate website or section here to your packet concerns. Consulates don't operate the same in this regard.

:D Thanks sanyata! How have things been coming along with you now?

We got a letter from NVC dated Oct.10th saying the petition will be mailed to the embassy within a week. I was already told by the service assistant on the phone that it was sent out on Oct. 9th. Now I have to figure out how to verify receipt at the consulate. We started working on the Pack 3&4 forms and hope to have them ready so we can do a quick turn around when the packet arrives in the mail. All the forms and translations seems challenging but we're just focusing on one thing at a time. Hopefully we'll be all set when the packet finally arrives.

It's great to see you got you NOA2. Enjoy the moment for a brief spell and then get busy preparing for the next round. Ha, Ha, something tells me you're already well ahead of the curve on that one!
