Oh ok. I have used those before. They make excellent retaining wall in a smaller area. I was looking at cinder blocks earlier so my mind was there. I like how you don't screw around.

Yes, I'm making a small retaining wall along the outer borders of the garden in the front yard. It really makes for some nice separation between the lawn and the flower beds and the colors of the flowers seem to pop more.

Do it right, or don't do it at all is my motto.

I have had the same 3 trees in my backyard cause problems with two different neighbors, for two different reasons.

The trees were there when I bought the house 4 years ago. They were on the back property line and parts of them overhung onto my neighbors property. I got into an argument with the neighbor behind me when I caught him pruning the trees and throwing the branches over the fence into my yard. I asked him not to do that anymore and he shouted at me "They're your trees and you're responsible for them". I tried to explain to him that's not how it works. He can prune anything that hangs over his property line, but he's also responsible for the clean up. I even offered to help him prune the trees and take the debris to the town compost site in my truck, but please don't throw the pruned branches on my property. He told me he was gonna sue me and hasn't talked to me since, lol.

Fast forward to last fall, the Mrs. and I decided the trees had become too big and decided to take them down before they got so big that we would have to pay to have them done professionally. A few days after we cut them down, the neighbor to the side of us told me she was mad that we cut the trees down because they provided her backyard with privacy. I apologized and explained that they were getting too big and needed to come down. She hasn't said two words to me since, lol. Mind you, this is the same woman who complained about one of the other trees on my property being too close to her house and dropping berries in her yard, so I paid $1200 to have it removed 3 months after I bought the house. She was happy then.

Anyone else have similar problems with trees?

Trees, friend or foe?

I don't like the traveler trees that start up in the springtime on my place. Interferes with my garden.

So I pull em out , get the roots. Sure, they be less than 3 ft when I pull em - and if it's a real tree, not a scrub tree or poison oak (way too much of that this spring) then I repot and resell.

Otherwise? I won't buy a house that doesn't have a huge tree in front or back, as a big tree giving shade cuts down on the AC costs in Houston...

I used to professionally remove trees and you would probably be surprised at how much wrath I would get sometimes. I even had the police show up. I was sued once by a customers neighbor. (thrown out) Threats. People get crazy over trees. I have a couple of trees near the house and have had chats with the neighbors and they are very open to talk about the trees needing cut back or even taken out. We have a unique situation though as we get hurricanes and have to look at potential dangers.

My advice is to try again and make up with the offended neighbors. My self I would just have a bar b q and invite them.

I thought about doing something like that Lucky, but quite honestly I'm tired of putting up with other peoples bs and then having to be the one that mends the fence afterwards.

Yeah but I have to try and get along. Most people around are also our customers.

I understand, bit of a different circumstance. I would do what you suggested if I were in your shoes.

I always have tried to get along with my neighbors anyway. Sometimes you get onethat no matter what you do you can't engage so in that case I just leave alone.
