We bought some geraniums, vinca vines, Dracaena spikes, coleus and violas. I have to watch the weather and if it gets too cold a few will have to go in the garage at night. The Dracaena spikes, violas and vinca vines are very hardy. Tulips have buds but haven't bloomed. I think planting bulbs in containers messes them up. I need to do more research on that.

Bulbs in containers are fine.

How do I store them for a NE winter?

Put them down near that gas fired heater you have. Where we live I remember my Grandma used to grow tropical plants that could take any prolonged cold. She had a greenhouse we made from plastic around a wood frame. On particular cold days she would place a heater or two in there. You may have limited space to do anything but usually someplace from the harshest elements will do wonders. We also had a couple of small barns.

When I lived in Canada I used to just stick them in the basement. If you don't have a basement then any old room will do, as long as it's cool.

I think that is where she  messed up. They were left in the containers outside all winter, with slight shelter from the elements, but not covered. They just came back very week this year. Half of the daffodils didn't even bud and the rest only grew to 1/4 of the normal height and had small, weak blooms. The tulips were even more pathetic.

Love the pic!

We had a drop in temperature last night and I am afraid my begonias are going to die of shock. :( As soon as there's a lull in the rain I'm going to bring them in for the night so I don't feel like a murderer.

Yeah. I saw on the news the weird weather. I got all my beds cleaned up and fed the rose bushes. The new bed I am making needs more so will have to wait till I return to complete that project. My babe is going to plant her flowers in pots so I can replant them when I get back. She is happy with me and making me a great breakfast before I head out. Got a few pics I will put up later.
