Nobody wears socks? It is either shoes or bare feet?

And if you notice I did say shoes make my feet happy as a choice. As well as why take them off if I am just putting them on again. I personally can't find a good reason unless I am running out the door and forget something I may then run back in with the shoes on but otherwise nope, never.

cristy,

I was also going to answer your poll, but like Kezzie I could not find any suitable answers to your 2nd and 3rd questions.

Yodrak

Was going to do your poll but the answers dont fit... why would I take my shoes off if I was in my own house?? At home I take them off when I go to bed or if they are wet or muddy or caked in snow...

Kezzie

PlatyPius,

The reasons why businesses do not want people entering without shoes are not the same as why one might prefer that a visitor to their home take their shoes off on entering. Let's start with the fact that the businesses are referring to people who arrive without shoes on their feet.

Yodrak

....

There's a reason businesses in the US have signs that say "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service". It's gross.

THe poll is bias in one direction

When i go to someone house, I try to be observant, if they have a shoe rack by the door or if i see shoes outside of the door I would take my shoes off, so at time the guess would say please you can come on with your shoes on, I let it be the host to determine indirectly if i keep them on or not, either way i don't mind, Have to show respect to the host.

Gone but not Forgotten!

I took mine off. In most part of Indonesia, it's a custom to take your shoes off when you enter someone's house. So unless the host asks me to keep them on, I will take them off.

I put a sign in front of my door: "Thank you for helping us keep our house clean and comfortable for our guests by taking your shoes off." That works like charms !! :D

depends on your culture and how you are raised. I personally find it rude to invite a guest over and then demand them to take off their shoes. thats because, growing up my father had a cow if he saw you barefooted because he has fears of something getting stuck or whatever in your foot. so he would be greatly offended if someone demanded it. I take off my shoes when I get home coz I feel comfortable that way. I dont demand it of my guest I dont care. frankly

I dont wanna smell your feet or see raggy socks.

I couldn't vote either cos I agree fully with Cian.....it's nasty...don't be taking your shoes off at my house unless you're like my BFF and you can be so familiar. It's a sign of disrespect...this aint your house! You wanna get comfortable? then go home!

On the flip side, I am annoyed by ppl who ask me to take off my shoes. I have perfectly lovely feet, mind you, but as a real estate agent, I can walk into a house and they'll be all 'can you remove your shoes please?' the answer is No. Because first of all...how do I know your HOUSE is clean enough that I feel comfortable walking around in my bare feet? That's gross. I don't need to catch some foot funkified germ.

I can understand with a house being shown that the homeowner is concerned with the wear and tear...so put a runner down or summat....it's quite odd to be showing a house where I have to walk in an unknown house & remove my shoes as well as the buyers. I don't wanna see anyone else's feet, yuk.

And don't get me started on the women who remove their shoes at weddings and things like that...

Remove shoes at weddings? Huh??

Whenever I'm in a wedding, which is more times than I care to mention, I always either get given flip flops by the bride, or take my own to change into at the reception!

I took my shoes off ONCE at a wedding because I was WAY past the point of caring at bottle of wine #3 or so...

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Most of the time (unless specifically told otherwise), we remove shoes in foyer (or even outside home).

Wow! I had no idea that anyone cared about this. I always wear shoes in my own house so I never think of taking them off in someone else's unless I see that everyone else is shoeless.
