I had a friend whose fiance flew by himself from England to NY. So there is no need to fly with him. He should have all his documentation, passport, and visa in hand and follow the directions of the airline and he should be fine.

Sent I-129 Application to VSC 2/1/12
NOA1 2/8/12
RFE 8/2/12
RFE reply 8/3/12
NOA2 8/16/12
NVC received 8/27/12
NVC left 8/29/12
Manila Embassy received 9/5/12
Visa appointment & approval 9/7/12
Arrived in US 10/5/2012
Married 11/24/2012
AOS application sent 12/19/12

AOS approved 8/24/13

Be sure to read the POE reviews for ORD: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php

Also, if ORD is only for a layover make sure you have enough time between flights to make the connection.

There really is no need for the USC to be there. While a visa is no guarantee of entry, and the CBP officer at the POE has the final say, it's not a big deal. Unless there were some serious issues he had to overcome at the interview, the CBP seems to just rely on the work of the USCIS and the consulate.

They'll take him off to the side, process his paperwork, ask him a question or two and welcome him to the country.

If you passed the interview fine, don't worry about the POE.

Just have your documents ready and you will be fine. Usually they will just remind you to get married within the 90 days. They never ask or interview me because they were busy talking to other officers  And was not that busy. And also, make sure your stamped I-94 ready for when you exit from the baggage claim.
