No, vaccinations are not required before the interview. You have the opportunity as a K1 applicant to get them before Adjustment Of Status. This is because the K1 visa is technically a non-immigrant visa and therefore not required to get all the vaccinations before entering the country.

However, it might be less expensive and less of a hassle to get them in the home country anyways so after arriving in the US, the K1 visa holder doesn't need to go through hell to find a civil surgeon who doesn't rip you off when or if you only need to have some vaccinations transcribed and not have the full medical again.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

It's country specific, the panel physicians are different in each country. But you still do not have to get any vaccinations unless the embassy specifically asks for it. A good idea to bring the immunization record from home country anyways so it's transcribed before moving to the states. You still have to get the xrays.

Yes, as with most things having to do with the K-1 interview, it is consulate specific. Mexico won't even offer the opportunity for those applying for a K-1 to get the vaccinations at their medical so they have a completed DS-3025. Vaccinations are not a requirement for a K-1 visa, but they are for AOS once in the US and married.

To the OP> If you can get them at your medical in Manila and have your DS-3025 complete, then it is best. It saves you from having to find a civil surgeon later and possibly go through another unnecessary medical and pay more than you should for a simple vaccination transcription onto the I-693. Many civil surgeons insist on another medical, even though USCIS instructions clearly state you do not need one. They also overcharge people all the time, simply because they can. It takes a lot of time and effort to track down one that will do the I-693 correctly and at a reasonable rate for a K-1.

I know the vaccinations needed for immigration status once my fiance is here but can someone tell me what, if any, are required prior to the interview/physical for the K1 visa? Thanks :)

St. Lukes Medical Extension Clinic will give your fiancé the age-appropriate vaccinations as part of the medical. The vaccinations are included in the price of the medical. That way, your fiancé won't have to get any vaccinations in the U.S.

You need to ask that in the regional forum for Peru so others that have gone through the medical there can tell you. Each country is different in how things are handled at the consulate for the interview, and the medical. Mexico does not give vaccinations or a completed DS-3025 to K-1 applicants, and I think a few others do not either. I believe most do though. Like I said, just ask others that went through there already.
