Just going through my paperwork again to make sure I haven't missed anything out. For the interview I have the following ready and labelled up so its easy to find;

  • Packet 3 letter
  • Packet 4 letter
  • Passport valid for 3 more years
  • MRV visa receipt with barcode and associated emails
  • Birth certificate & photocopies
  • UK police certificate & photocopies
  • 3x Dept of State passport photographs
  • I-134 & supporting evidence
  • 1 copy of each form previously submitted to the Embassy in case any went missing

I'm pretty sure that everything is in order but just wanted input from those with experience of the process to ensure nothing has been overlooked.

Thank you :)

Birth certificate has your parents' name on it? Some people overlook that.

No arrests, cautions to have extra paperwork on?

No previous marriage or divorce decree?

Sounds like you are well prepared. Have a great interview!

Reminds me it's time to organize the paperwork for my husband's interview in about 3 weeks.

Yes, the birth certificates list my parent's names and I wasn't adopted so that's even less paperwork.

Never been in trouble with the law before and I plan on keeping it that way, although I do get felt up at airports a lot :P Never lived outside the UK so so need for other Police certificates.

No previous marriage or divorce decree?

Nope, I've never been married let alone divorced.

Thank you :D Heading over to London the day before so I should have plenty of time to walk the route and hopefully not get flagged for looking shady :P I picked up my shirt from the dry cleaners after work today (I couldn't get two years worth of wrinkles out) and I'll be picking up a pair of trousers after work for the interview.

Good luck to you and your husband and thank you for all your help. Is this the last part of all your paperwork?

The last!! Just a matter now of organizing a folder of originals...things to show we are married still, our previous marriages were terminated, we live together, have some joint accounts, and paid income tax. Hoping for a May oath ceremony, but whenever is fine. Then apply for a US passport. Guess that's actually the last bit of paperwork.
