Anyone who's been thru the Mumbai consulate, please lemme know if there's any storage area at the consulate where you can deposit your cellphones, etc. Also, is a handbag allowed inside? Is there a cafe at the consulate? I'm a diabetic, so I need to know if I've gotta carry some snack with me, and also, if it's allowed. Thanks much.

There is no room in consulate to store your bag or cellphone. You are not allowed to take any food in the consulate either.

There used to be a little snack corner in the older consulate, I am not sure of the new facility.

For storing your personal belonging either you need someone to wait for you outside the consulate or you pay VFS and they provide locker.

The VFS in Mumbai is approximately 13 km from the Mumbai Consulate at Bandra Kurla Complex. Typically around 20 minutes - but if you're at all familiar with India and the way traffic is there ... I would say it takes about an hour! Good Luck!

Personally I would say - Don't bring any such stuff. Better to get a hotel near to Mumbai Consulate. I remember, one of man had cellphone and he was asked to submit some of office there ( nearby ) I dont know what that office is called. May be, that can take 5-10 min by walking. Overall, unnecessary time wasting.

I didn't bring anything that was not allowed inside the Mumbai Consulate, and I got my hotel near to Consulate area.

I have a place to stay, so I wouldn't be looking at a hotel anyways. And if there isn't a place to deposit cellphones, etc, then I guess I'll just ask my friend to keep it all in the car and wait for me.

No, the VFS office hasn't moved along with the new Consulate and I believe there isn't a shuttle from VFS to the Consulate like there was previously. At least there wasn't in January.
