Hi guys. Due to some illness and family problems I've been away from this forum for quite a while, had to take a pause on my filing, and now need some help. My I-130 was approved last year, and I am accepted for electronic filing. Here's my question: I'm ready to move forward now with EP. Assuming no RFE's, in the current environment, what is the most likely "guestimate" from the time I complete the sending of my EP documents until a scheduled interview?

Thanks for any/all help and advice.

3 weeks would be my guess. I'm breaking it down this way, 2 weeks to a case complete after they receive they receive your final email package. 1 week from case complete to interview scheduled. The breakdown is derived from my own experience, 2 weeks after I sent my last package, I received a checklist that I had to respond to, I believe that if I had not received a checklist, I would have received a case complete. I received a case complete 3 days after I sent the checklist response and my wife's interview was scheduled exactly one week after I received the case complete.

If you mean from the time the DS-230 is emailed to NVC, then perhaps 7 weeks. That was our experience. Everybody is a little different. Good luck!

i say 3 weeks from the time ya start to the time of 'appointment date set', if'n no problems with opting in.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hi. Just to clarify what you are saying (Darnell & Ryan H). I have NOT yet filed the DS-230 (that floridadave refers to). In spite of his experience, I am assuming that your "guestimate" is 3 weeks after filing my EP, INCLUDING my DS-230 (providing no glitches). Perhaps floridadaves 7 weeks was partly due to the Christmas Season being in the middle of his filing?

1. call into NVC, get the GUZ casefile number, give the tele-operater yer email, yer wife's email.

2. coupla days later, the AOS fee bill magically shows up in yer email box . pay it.

3. same day as #2, opt in.

4. wait till GZO # is assigned (you get an email), apprx 5 days

duh - sometimes I can't read...

what is the most likely "guestimate" from the time I complete the sending of my EP documents until a scheduled interview?

5 days or less, if'n 'scheduled interview' = 'interview date set'. Figure 3 to 6 weeks from the date it is set, to the actual interview date itself (and then, it's the document intake day, interview is next business day)

Thank you Darnell. Your reply is unbelievably detailed, informative, and helpful. One last question (for anyone with any experience with appointment reschedule requests). Due to my situation, I only have certain times I can travel. If they schedule the interview earlier than I can go, how friendly/flexible is GZO with time change requests (i.e. pushing the date OUT)? If after they set the date, I were to ask for a date 1 or 2 weeks later, are they likely to comply?

From what I've read here , it's not just 1 to 2 weeks, when requesting a reschedule - it's usually 1 to 3 months out.

You can certainly try via an email to GUZ IV in their web portal email thingie..
