Question 35 on the DS-230 is a shocker: list ALL previous visits to the US! DS (French national) has visited the US literally dozens of times as a tourist since the age of 15. In France you are not allowed to keep your passport when renewing it so he has no way to know the dates, and even on his current passport it's nearly impossible to figure out from the barely legible stamps exactly what the dates of his most visits were over the past 9 years. We have the dates of the most recent visits from the past few years in our calendar, but there is really no way he can give a clear answer to this question. What to do??!?!

I would put in what information you can on the form and then attach a note explaining the situation. You could also try sending an email to the consulate and ask for their assistance in what they would expect as answer in your situation.

Thank you, Chippy's girl. The consulate here in Paris no longer has a USCIS presence and makes it nearly impossible to get any immigration info. I may have to end up calling the NVC to ask about this.

BTW Rochester, NY is my hometown! Last time I was there I went to the USCIS desk downtown to get info about the application procedure and was able to chat with a friendly guy who answered our questions.
