I'm really a nice guy in person. Everyone likes me. Except my wife.

Not me. I'm a self-aggrandizing arrogant individual with delusions of Godhood and no sense of humour, other than that I'm pretty average.

I've met quite a few (12? 15?) VJers in real life, including one of the mods. Which of course was part of my devious plan to sow the seeds of mod-softiness towards me.

But to a person, except for one notable exception, they've all been pretty cool and terrific fun. Particularly when they were buying a round. :D

Not one of the VJ "names" -- don't think he's even been on VJ for over 3 years. He happened to be DCFing through London a year after I did, and came along to an impromptu London meetup in 2008. I happened to be in London for business, and there was some chat about people getting together, most of us UK forum peeps who had been happily chatting away for months. He sort of... invited himself. We didn't know who he was, but none of us wanted to be impolite so we all said sure, come along.

We all met up in a pub in West London. The others invited (none of whom would be names that would ring a bell here these days, as they're not on VJ anymore either) were all just as funny and kind as I expected but this guy -- we'll call him "Sam" -- was just... um. He continuously harped on about how he was Very Important and how he was Very Well Connected back in his home state, and about his financial nous and his PhD. He was an utter bore and a boor. He had brought his wife along, who while very beautiful and clearly trying to engage with us, spoke almost no English and with whom it was nearly impossible to chat. He also didn't buy a round!mad.gif

He was last spotted on VJ trying to see if there was a loophole in the 319(b) citizenship rules. He had "posted" himself abroad (he was some sort of self-employed financial consultant, but I had NO idea what he actually did) immediately after returning to the States with his wife, and was looking to apply for her citizenship before they even removed conditions.wacko.gif In the end she was denied, and the year she had spent living outside the US had, of course, reset her citizenship clock. I felt bad for her, but I thought he was such a tool he sort of deserved it.

Yeah, I'm a b!tch. :P

You are indeed an evil harridan, quite beyond hope.tongue.gif Your parsimonious "friend" sounds like a true-to-life Ugly American, SAM = Self-aggrandizing Mountebank.

You're interfering with my post whoring.

Sorry, I tripped over my ego, yet again.
