Hi Y'all,

My receipt from USCIS is dated 12/20/2011 (they already have all of our proofs); but because we've only had 1 visit in person, my Fiance made application for a tourist VISA to come visit me in the States, this time. What is the approximate time-frame for his Interview for tourist VISA? And do you think this would be a good idea, since 3 months have passed and the average time frame for K1 VISA is 5-6 months with the Vermont Service Center?

The chances of a Nigeria male with an already filed K1 petition, without huge reasons to return to Nigeria, getting a visa is about the same as that same man landing on the moon this year. Visitors visas are not something that fall like candy from the hands of the Lagos consulate. It is rare for anyone to get a visa. You can try but don't invest in a real ticket unless he has visa in hand.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Another visit is a good idea. However, depending on the beneficiary's country of origin, a US tourist visa may be difficult to obtain. Additionally, if the visa is approved, the beneficiary will have to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the CBP personnel at the US entry point, that there are "compelling reasons" to return home after the visit. There may include, but are not limited to, property ownership, significant financial holdings, familial requirements, employment, etc. There have been many recent threads on this very topic in the forum, review them for more information.

I would hope that other forum members will comment. Is there a possibility of the USC petitioner visiting the beneficiary? Often that is easier to accomplish. That is what my fiancee and I did this past February.

Good luck.

Agree with NigeriaorBust. Also the invitation letter did you write it? Or what reason is he giving for visit? Anything other than "Going to visit my fiance' " is visa fraud and would derail your whole K1 process.

I wouldnt waste my time or money on him applying for tourist visa the chances of him getting one without having filed K1 is slim but him having a K1 on file they probably wont give him. If you all need to see each other again it is best you get on a plane to see him :)

Duplicate threads have been merged and duplicate post removed. Please do not start a whole new thread to ask the same question. You need to be patient and wait for answers. They will come - you just need to allow the appropriate members time to read your post and respond, Posting it more than once won't get you more answers and may end up getting you fewer.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I did not do this intentionally; I mistakenly backed-out of my original message and tried to get back into it but did not see it, so I started a new post then after completion realized the first message still existed. I tried to find a way to delete one of them but could not find the option; don't think VJ has that option. The double has nothing to do with "impatience"; just an error I made. Thanks! :)

Sorry for the duplicate thread: It wan't intentional; I mistakenly backed-out of my original message and tried to get back into it but did not see it, so I started a new post then after completion realized the first message still existed. I believe I may have had VJ up on more that one browser too. I tried to find a way to delete one of them but could not find the option; don't think VJ has that option. Sometimes I can be a little  on the computer.

If you post a duplicate in error, you can report it with the little Report button at the bottom left of a post, and a moderator will remove it.

The other responses are correct, his chances of getting a visa are almost nil. You could try meeting in a third country closer to the USA if you cannot travel back to meet him, such as Mexico?

Like everybody is saying the chance of getting the tourist visa is very slim....the requirement is seeing each other within the last 2 years but of course the more the better, if you wanteed to provide additional "meeting evidence" it's best you travel home and see each other
