Ok so we have our interview tomorrow and i am a bit confused on what to take. my husband and i dont have joint accounts yet. we did file our taxes together this year and that is about it. i have my motgage under my name and the electricity and water bills are all under my name only. i have pictures of our wedding and can take the album with us but i am a bit worried about any other evidence they may request. Also, the interview request says "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application. Other wise, we may keep your originals" I have no idea what this means.

any help is appreciated!

thanks!

Original birth certificate, original tax papers, etc everything you submitted you must bring the originals and copys with them.

Has he gotten any mail at your address?

Health insurance proof? Life insurance proof?

Drivers licenses showing he lives at the same address as you? shared car insurance?

Wow! This question should have been asked the day you received the letter so that you can be better prepared. Basically whatever advice you receive will not benefit you much as there is no time to make these adjustments.

I noted that you had no assets that can substantiate that your marriage is viable. It's easy to get a joint bank account at Bank of America Even if your spouse has no social security number. The question that the IO may want answered is why is your spouse not on your mortgage, health insurance and other things that tie your assets together. It may appear to them that your marriage is in name only and for GC purposes. It is wise to be over-prepared. You stated that you have wedding pictures, but what about other pictures taken before and after the marriage? Do you have pictures with friends and family members? Do you have anything from anyone to vouch that your marriage is love-based and not a means to an end? I'm saying this because the IO needs proof and you basically have none.

They request the original and the copies of documents you sent in so that they can review them to see if they match. They will take your original documents if you do not produce another set of copies.

I wish you all the best in your interview. You may have a very lenient IO who may just bypass all the requirements. Good luck.

Of course i thought about this before, but we can not have any joint bank accounts. there are other circumstances in our situation that prevent us from doing this. i can not add him to my mortgage because i bouight my house before i even met him. i couldnt add him to any bills because he just received his EAD card 2 weeks ago and they wouldnt allow me.

of course i have a ton of pictures of us before and after our marriage and i also have those with me. we have pictures with both of our families.

i do understand what you are saying, but if i explain the situation to them, i hope they understand.

You should have the same policy number or papers stating he was added to your policy or be able to get a fax from the company stating he is on your medical insurance.

Ok. Your interview came right after the EAD and as you stated, and there was not much time to adjust anything. That is practical and understandable. BTW, you both look lovely together. All the best. :)

Yes, try and find the form you filled out to add him, or anything that shows he is on your insurance too. Has he gone to the doctor? If so, use the receipt to show he used and is on your insurance.

They should understand that you do not have much evidence yet, since you have not been married long. Good luck tomorrow! :)
