Actually because she's Filipino she does. In order for the divorce to be recognised in the Philippines (so she can remarry later or whatever) HE needs to file for divorce, he needs to be the petitioner.

I'm trying to learn here.

So every female entity from Philipinpo that is married to a USC is at his mercy for a divorce? Even if said female entity is in the USA?

If that is true then I don't know why they would marry a USC at all. Seems like a one sided contract to me.

It is only important if she decides to return to the Philippines, and requires the eligibility to remarry in the Philippines for some later purpose.

Marrying a foreigner is the only way a Filipino can have the option of divorce that is recognized in Philippines. They do not allow divorce at all inside the Philippines, or recognize their own citizens as having valid divorces if they file outside the country.

Yawwwnnnnnn..........

Thanks all for the education this morning about the Phillipines. I never knew that.

Think Roman Catholic Church in charge, and you get some idea. In the morning, if you happen to be in a public place, like a school, or a mall, you may see everybody come to attention, sing the national anthem, and recite the Lord's prayer.

Nope, not true.... completely. Only if they want the divorce recognized in the Philippines. If she wants to stay in the States after she can divorce his a$$ without a second thought.

I think this is the wife that had the foot surgery and was a holy terror then. OP needs to watch "The taming of the shrew"

Yeah, I remember reading almost the same scenario/story b4.

OP: I respect you of keeping intact your family together, however, she is taking advantage of you being a good husband to her. I hope you both can resolve this. Talk to her, compromise each other, especially her being childish, now that she is becoming a mother soon...

I wish you good luck!

I guess I am a different creature but the one thing I would never ever do is post a long-#### grievance about the woman I love, honor and cherish on a public forum for all to read and then belittle. There are always two sides to a story and I bet she has one to tell also ... not only in English but also in Tagalog! Most of us here are on marriage 2 or 3 (maybe) and if she talked to your ex, she would most likely agree with her

My wife says the rich people can do it. I don't know the particulars. She says it takes a long time but she confirms readily there's no divorce for common people.

Annulment is what the rich people do. And that's bogus because they don't really meet the legal criteria set up to obtain an annulment. Generally they have to lie about something.

You pay a bunch of money and hope the judge isn't too honest because he knows you don't really meet the criteria

There is one loophole for divorce though. Become a Muslim before you get married, and get married following the Muslim laws, then you are allowed to get divorced following

the Muslim laws.

Thanks all for the education this morning about the Phillipines. I never knew that

You're welcome

It could be worse, If a female entity from the Philipines marries a male entity from the Philippines, neither one of them can ever get divorced :crying:

He is trampling out the vintage

where the grapes of wine are stored

He hath loosed the fateful lightning

of his terrible swift sword

Defender of the tos

alert for violations

Charles reigns supreme with

fair and balanced moderation

from the halls of Malacanang

to the shores of Mindanao

He rules the Philippine forum

With the wiseness of an Owl

Today the Philippines

Tomorrow Bhutan

Now Charles is "The Man"

His truth goes marching on

Oh say can you see

By the dawns early light

The threads that he's banned

Or the posts he's deleted

Nooo says I

He can't be defeated

He is world renowned for

the justice he's meted

Even Obama called Charles to ask his advice

Resign said Charles not once but twice

Throw in the towel and cash in your chips

That's when Obama quit calling and

asking for tips

He basks in the glow

of Mass adulation

someday he will lead

the whole VJ Nation

A Beacon of hope

Like the rockets red glare

He shows us the way

He shows us he cares

On the blackest of nights

the poor huddled masses

can see for miles when he lights

the gases he passes

So 6 people didn't like it Dan -- I had a good chuckle.
