My wife and i haven't seen each other for nearly 4 months. I know that's not the longest time, but any separation takes a toll. We've hit kind of a rough spot now where everything revolves around just waiting. We'll make it through eventually I'm sure, but I'm slightly worried about this potentially damaging aspects of our relationship.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to spiff up a relationship when you're 10,000 miles apart?

How do you keep the spark and the "fire" alive?

Any tips and ideas are welcome :)

We have drawn closer to each other by each day answering 5 questions via email. I take turn answer the questions first, then she answers. On the next set of questions, she answers first and then I would next. It is really eye opening and you get to know a lot of interesting things about each other. The questions are entitled "A 1000 questions for Couples". Just IM me and I could email you some questions.

Thanks, that's actually a great idea. I'll try it out, see how she likes it :)

About 4 years ago, I remember my husband and I used to share some funny stuff we find on the internet and laughed together. Although he was with me for 5 months, hit the bottom, broke up, got back and resolved issues before he went back here, the whole time we were apart was spent cultivating friendship in each other. It was the time we're relaxed and truly enjoyed each others' company and not poking each others' flaws. It helped us become comfortable sharing the littlest to the most important issues. We recognized our flaws the first time we're together but handled it better the second time and got married. So far, there's never a dull moment with my husband and when I get bored I don't look at my husband but to myself. My husband and I are the same on that. Also, we both don't like drama. :)

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Random letters, small gifts.

I like the 5 questions idea. I did that when my SO and I were in the long distance thing. It helped.

Download/rent/Netflix some movies and TV shows or movies. Watch them together, at the same time if possible. It's doing something "together".
