Hi

I entered US on k1 visa and m now applying for citizenship.

n400 form, question 7 : how many days have u spent Outside of US during past five years

In this, should I include trips that I made after I entered US or all trips for the past 5 years. I have been in US for 3 years only, so before that I was always outside US.

Please advise on how to answer this question.

Also, how many days does it take to get citizenship.

Thanks

Yes, you do. You need to include all places you have been outside the US in the past 5 years.

hi,

if you are filing for citizenship based on the 3 year rule, then it's only the 3 years since you have been a LPR. how long does it take it depends on the city or state, usually from 3 to 5 months, it can be less.

Five years is what they asked, and five years is what they got, even though my wife was outside of the country for over 400 days, Wasn't about to cross out that five and put in a three. not legal to change any form. If it is legal, could also cross out some of those questions about your moral character.

N-400 form hasn't changed since it was formed by a Cuban refugee that helped Bush get elected with very questionable English skills. INS was abolished, got a new name, USCIS, and made part of yet another new government agency called Homeland Security when the key problem back then was, they already had to many government law enforcement agencies that couldn't communicate with each other. But due to incompetence was forced to resign by the American Board Of Immigration Attorneys.

Since then, had three ACTING directors, think we have permanent director now, but they may change after the next election results, but so far, hasn't done anything. Just nice to know the brief history of the agency that is holding an ax over our heads.

With our luck, got two IO's where my wife and daughter should have been giving them an English test instead of the other way around, receptionist, I spoke to couldn't speak English either.

One thing for sure, you have to be very very nice, or will get the ax for sure. They have all the power over your life.
