L. Tod Schlosser

I hired L. Tod Schlosser, to help with out K-1 process in May 2011, however he has really done nothing and takes forever to answer me back, I recently found out that he was disbarred in Aug 2011, and he was suppose to inform all of his clients in writing of this fact. He never informed of this. And he only ever answer a few of our questions, I have done all the work in filling out all the forms and spending countless hour scouring the web for any and all information. What tipped me off that something was not right was the other day i emailed Tod and told him that we still had not received packet 4 even though my Fiance has his interview on April 19th 2012, What Tod told me was "Well you don't really need the interview letter as it's only purpose is to let the security guards at the Embassy know that you have business at the Embassy on that date and to let him in the Embassy". Ummmm are you serious?? I told him that is not true as my fiance was told that he could not get his PPC or set up an appointment for his medical exam unless he had a copy of the interview letter. So my suspicion were aroused. I went online ans started searching Tod's name and found all kinds of complaints and I found out he was disbarred by the EOIR and DHS.When I confronted him he said he did nothing wrong and he doesn't need the permission of Illinois to do what he does as he is completely qualified to do this. I asked for a refund as he has done no work and he never gets back to me, he refused saying without him we would not have an interview date.

So my questions is has anyone else had any problems with L. Tod Schlosser? And does anyone have any advise as to what I can do to get my $2500.00 back?

good for you for calling him on it. We paid a Michigan lawyer 1500 dollars when we started this process, and basically all he did was put a brad on our petition (the clip that holds it together) and proceed to give us bad advice which slowed us down. You might want to contact a law society in your area and ask how to file a complaint or "tax" the lawyer which means you are making a case that he charged you too much for services.

We just were glad to have it over and will never use this Michigan lawyer again.

Your fiance should email to Embassy for the interview letter. It is must to bring at the time of medical/interview. Seems like your attorney really ripped you off badly with $2500 USD. That is alot of money for K-1. I dont know how to take the money back once it is given. Plus you have paid him all this money almost a year back, so old story to claim for any refund.

I'm sorry to hear that you got ripped off like that. I hired a lawyer only to do the petition. It cost me $800. When the rfe came, he wanted to charge me extra. I ended up doing it myself. If I had found this website a little sooner, I would have saved that money. Now, when nvc gets my petition, I have to send them an email to tell them that I no longer have a lawyer. Of course they sent the approval letter to him also. I just got it from him yesterday. I received mine on the 29th. He is only 75 miles away. Good luck with your journey

You can contact the Embassy 15 days prior to the interview date and they will email it to the beneficiary. They refuse to send it any earlier. We never received Packets 3 or 4 from Mumbai, which seems to be pretty typical unfortunately and quite frustrating. Make sure you put "REQUEST FOR SPECIFIC INFORMATION" in the subject line of the email and include your BMB case # in the email also. So sorry to hear about your bad experience with that man that calls himself an attorney and good for you for calling him out on his past. Hopefully you can get something back.

There was a good point there... make sure that you have changed your status with NVC that you no longer want information /correspondence sent to your lawyer and he is no longer in involved with your case.
