Hey guys, I have kind of a stupid question but I thought I'd ask...

We submitted AOS Package and it was approved.

However NVC sent a checklist asking for the IV Package (we have not mailed this yet).

It says on the e-mail with the checklist that I must include the "checklist cover sheet" when the IV package is sent.

Should I really include this "checklist cover sheet" or should I just send the original cover sheet I printed when I paid for the IV Fees?

It would be better to include the cover sheet they sent to you in the checklist list along with the letter. I was in the same situation as you but it was for my AOS, my IV package was sent first and was accepted. SO i would advise that you send the cover sheet in the checklist with your IV documents

Yes, a false checklist, you can send either or it really doesn't matter. I personally sent the original one out.

The good news is that is a 'false checklist' it means your AOS packet was reviewed and accepted and now they want your IV package. You can include the sheet if you want but make sure you include the sheet with the barcode from where you paid the IV invoice!

Just got back from an Major League Soccer match between my hometown Real Salt Lake and the Montreal Impact. My team managed a 1-0 victory, but I was distracted the entire match due to the news I received this afternoon about a checklist being issued for my wife's divorce certificate. I plan to call the NVC first thing in the morning and insist the review the document again. There is no way they haven't come across this before with Chilean divorce documents. If they insist I submitted the wrong document I will insist that they provide an example of the correct certificate. I went back to the DOS website that lists examples of documents from specific countries and they don't have an example of a divorce certificate, just that it can be obtained from the Registro Civil which is where we obtained ours. Back in February when the USCIS issued an RFE for a handful of documents that they somehow managed to lose I sent an email to the Santiago Embassy with scanned copies of each of the documents to make sure they were the correct documents. I was told by the Santiago Embassy that they were indeed the correct documents. Obviously the USCIS agreed because they accepted the same exact divorce decree when I resubmitted it as part of the RFE.

So, what if I can't get this issue resolved before next week when they start assigning interview dates? My step-daughters case is complete so they will schedule an interview for her from what the NVC operator told me this afternoon. Will they be able to add my wife to that same interview date? My step-daughter is 5 years old so it would be pointless to have an interview just for her.

Thanks again to all those who have provided guidance on this. It is very reassuring to know that there are so many knowledgeable, helpful people on this website who freely offer their advice. I will have to pay it forward by continuing to be active in these forums even after our visa journey is complete.

NVC is full of fools like USCIS. Call in and explain the situation. If they still insist on the document, ask to talk to a supervisor.

Hello everyone!

I've been following this board all March, and as we've transferred into April I decided I should probably make an account and join you. This seems to keep my sanity level somewhat normal. The last stretch of this process is driving me absolutely insane. (I'm sure many of you would agree.)

Submitted all our documents to NVC, on March 21. For some reason, my lawyer sent out two packages all at once. I just got a check list on March 30, saying we have one missing piece of information. My husband emailed my lawyer all the needed info, and I haven't been able to get a hold of my lawyer since then!!

I'm going crazy because it could've been in review by now. Do you think I can just email NVC myself by putting the case number on all the scans at the top? Or should I keep trying to get a hold of my lawyer? (Last time it took me two weeks to finally get to him) My emails go unanswered, our phone calls go unanswered and their voicemail is full. It is so frustrating.

Oh, and hello everyone once again! =) :D

Welcome!

Unfortunately the only people that can send in scanned documents by email are those eligible for electronic processing. Russia is not one. You or your lawyer will have to send the missing information snail mail with the barcoded sheet sent in the checklist email. If it's sent over night or priority it will get there fast and they should review it shortly after it arrives at NVC (within a few days!)

It can't hurt. But NVC books the interviews. With out that letter from her doctor to make your case for an expedite, you're in line with everyone else.

Based on last year within the same time signatures and this year starting in Jan (countries Stats as well - non EP Embassies), I do believe that as long as your NVC case was completed between the 8th and the end of the month, an interview are usually assigned around 9th-12th of the FOLLOWING month (unless offer is greater than demand). And 80% of the time an interview is scheduled within either the end of the same month or the following:

Example:

Case approved 03/15/11 -> Interview assigned 04/10/11 -> Interview scheduled 05/20/11. This is a real example I found around here. Folks that gets their interview sooner are usually because of someone else rescheduled/cancel their time. So chances are if your NVC CC at the end of the month you'll be waiting the least amount of time and vice versa for cases like mine. Despite these facts, I still think this is based on Embassies' seats assigned.

 Yesterday was my wife's first appointment with her new doctor, she didn t really insist on the letter as they were having lot of test on her. Her next appointment with him is April 18th

Ask her to pick the phone, call her doctor and they are usually helpful within these cases to have a letter written and signed. "I'm having a baby and I wanna my husband to be with with me", nothing wrong with that.

rujby,

You're family is having a rough time and you're scared and worried. It's understandable. What you two have been put through is horrible.

But with out medical evidence from her doctor there is no way to request an expedite. I understand your wife did not feel comfortable asking her new doctor for a letter stating her high risk pregnancy and what the diagnosis is causing the high risk.

Your case has been complete for a week now, and the most you can do at this point is wait, on either an interview date, or a letter so you can send your expedite request.
