:(

Did they lose just the DS-230 or the entire IV package?

Like others have said, the AOS and IV are two independent tracks. You can pay which you want first, and you can send whichever package you want first (after the bills appear as PAID of course).

Like others have said, the IV has NOTHING to do with the AOS track. The IV bill gets invoiced AFTER the DS-3032 is accepted.

i know got my answers already, thanks anyway.

How you doin'?

Ever get down to the answer of your mysterious email? The end of it was almost worded like the check list I got for AOS for the Schedule C and to pay the IV fee.

No, I wish I got the answer. I have no idea what to do, Saylin recommended calling a supervisor..would there be one available now? My game plan is to hurl documents and money at them until they get what they need, or until the embassy steps in and gives me an expedite - one of the two! Otherwise, I'm good. Love going to singing practice :) How are you?

Call away, you have 40 minutes to do so!

As sheeshkabelle mentioned, I talked to Pauline. Very awesome lady, very helpful, informed me they've sent a couple emails now to the embassy trying to get me an expedite.

HOWEVER... please please please, be ready to throw the book at Clark! He SUCKS! He was my scripted robot monkey from earlier who had no idea how to read the monitor in front of him from the sounds of it...very rude, very robotic...all around, dealing with Clark is like dealing with a root canal with no freezing. Enjoy!

Timeline

Just got back from an Major League Soccer match between my hometown Real Salt Lake and the Montreal Impact. My team managed a 1-0 victory, but I was distracted the entire match due to the news I received this afternoon about a checklist being issued for my wife's divorce certificate. I plan to call the NVC first thing in the morning and insist the review the document again. There is no way they haven't come across this before with Chilean divorce documents. If they insist I submitted the wrong document I will insist that they provide an example of the correct certificate. I went back to the DOS website that lists examples of documents from specific countries and they don't have an example of a divorce certificate, just that it can be obtained from the Registro Civil which is where we obtained ours. Back in February when the USCIS issued an RFE for a handful of documents that they somehow managed to lose I sent an email to the Santiago Embassy with scanned copies of each of the documents to make sure they were the correct documents. I was told by the Santiago Embassy that they were indeed the correct documents. Obviously the USCIS agreed because they accepted the same exact divorce decree when I resubmitted it as part of the RFE.

So, what if I can't get this issue resolved before next week when they start assigning interview dates? My step-daughters case is complete so they will schedule an interview for her from what the NVC operator told me this afternoon. Will they be able to add my wife to that same interview date? My step-daughter is 5 years old so it would be pointless to have an interview just for her.

Thanks again to all those who have provided guidance on this. It is very reassuring to know that there are so many knowledgeable, helpful people on this website who freely offer their advice. I will have to pay it forward by continuing to be active in these forums even after our visa journey is complete.

Hello everyone!

I've been following this board all March, and as we've transferred into April I decided I should probably make an account and join you. This seems to keep my sanity level somewhat normal. The last stretch of this process is driving me absolutely insane. (I'm sure many of you would agree.)

Submitted all our documents to NVC, on March 21. For some reason, my lawyer sent out two packages all at once. I just got a check list on March 30, saying we have one missing piece of information. My husband emailed my lawyer all the needed info, and I haven't been able to get a hold of my lawyer since then!!

I'm going crazy because it could've been in review by now. Do you think I can just email NVC myself by putting the case number on all the scans at the top? Or should I keep trying to get a hold of my lawyer? (Last time it took me two weeks to finally get to him) My emails go unanswered, our phone calls go unanswered and their voicemail is full. It is so frustrating.

Oh, and hello everyone once again! =) :D

USCIS:

11/17/2010 - filed for I-130

10/06/2011 - I130 Interview (Approved)

11/07/2011 - I130 Approval Receieved in the mail, transferring to NVC

NVC:

12/08/2011 - Case arrived at the NVC office

02/03/2012 - AOS bill invoiced and paid

03/21/2012 - all packets + documents arrive at NVC for review

03/30/2012 - receive checklist for 1 missing document

04/20/2012 - Case Closed!

05/04/2012 - interview date given

06/14/2012 - interview date. Moscow

It's my understanding that the NVC wants originals or certified copies of everything, but all documents will be sent to the Embassy as well, so you'd get it back in the end. And the "personal copy" sounds like a certified copy to me :) If in doubt, call your Embassy.

Hi thanks for the reply! :-) Yes the one with "personal copy" stamp is an original certified copy. I just thought they might not accept something like that (a document with a personal copy stamp on it). I'm sorry for the bother I just wanted everything to be sure and right. :-) And thanks for reminding me that I can call the embassy if I'm in doubt. Again, thanks! :-)

Question.......If NVC does request a document from you,(RFE)that will take some time based on the country you are from. Can you ask them if you can provide the document at the time of interview?

YES YOU CAN!

As a matter of fact, I did, following fairy Saylin's advice, and it worked!

Here's exactly how I did it: in the cover letter I wrote a nice little paragraph explaining that obtaining a police certificate from Turkey was taking several months, and kindly asking if I could just bring it to the interview. Then in the packet, where the certificate would have been, I inserted a sheet of paper, on which I wrote in big bold letters "Turkish police certificate: please read note on cover letter".

My IV packet was accepted in a few days and I did just bring the missing paper to the interview!
