Sometimes, i wonder how grateful we all are to this website. There is nothing like this anywhere on WORLD WIDE WEB known as the INTERNET!

I mean the sheer amount of information we get from VJ. So much so that i just couldn't imagine tackling this journey w/o VJ.

So much so that I wouldn't mind paying a membership fee for it. NOT THAT I'M SAYING VJ should start chargin.

I'm JUST SAYING how immensely helpful VJ has been to me on this long, difficult and unpredictable journey.

Thank you VJ. :)

ditto to that

I just got off the phone with NVC and found out that they issued a checklist for my wife's IV packet. The operator told me it was missing her divorce decree. I am 100% sure I included her divorce decree in the packet. My guess is that they don't recognize it. In Chile the divorce decree looks exactly the same as the marriage certificate. The only difference is that there is an annotation that the marriage was terminated in divorce. This same document was accepted by USCIS and I confirmed through the Santiago Embassy website that this was the correct document.

What are my options at this point? Can I email NVC and ask them to recheck for this document? Considering I already sent the original copy it would take a few days and some steep fees to get another copy sent to the NVC. I really want to get case closed by the end of the week so we are in the queue for interview scheduling, assuming they are released next week.

The good news is that my step-daughters IV packet was accepted and her case was closed.

Congrats on once case being closed!!

First off, grats on your daughter's case closing.

Since you don't have another copy to send, I'd suggest calling up NVC asap and requesting to speak with a supervisor. They might be able to re-check your package. You might also want to email NVC with an explanation of the divorce decree, as well as sources from the Santiago website that it's indeed correct.

I called back and spoke to another agent and tried to explain that the divorce certificate was included and may be confusing because at the top it says marriage certificate. He told me that I would have to send a letter by mail to the NVC explaining this. I asked to speak to a supervisor about it but he was insisting this was my only option unless I can obtain a document that just says divorce certificate. So I guess my only option is to write up a letter along with another photocopy of the document and send it via express mail.

I would also like to try the email route. Would I send an email to NVCInquiry@state.gov with my wife's case number in the subject line along with Attn Supervisor Sue?

Thanks again for your help!

I'd try calling again and asking for another supervisor. Some of them refuse to transfer people.

Yes, that's the email, and worth a shot for supervisor Sue!

I will try calling again. In the meantime I sent off the email. I'm going to hold off on sending a letter until I receive the actual checklist so I can include that with the letter. This is so annoying! :bonk:

I doubt it, making an antibodies count from a blood sample takes a while, and I'm not even sure it's possible for all of the required vaccines.

If I were him, I'd go to the doctor and have an MMR shot right now. The second shot must be at least a month later, which might still work for you. I'm not sure about the other vaccines because they're not requested by the embassy in France, except the Tdap/DPT, but one shot is enough.

Ah, very good to know. Without knowing our interview date yet, there's really no need to rush things but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Laure!

EDIT: Also, I just remembered that everything is closed Thursday-Monday anyway so I guess that decision was made for us

Ugh. NVC is so painfully unhelpful sometimes...

Me: "I received a checklist that appeared to ask for every document I have left to send. I am confused. What exactly do you want?"

Them: "We are waiting for you to send the IV application."

Me: "Yes I know that. You haven't invoiced me for it yet so I can't pay it or access the online form."

Them: "Then we're waiting for the AOS documents to be emailed."

Me: "I did that as soon as you sent the checklist, because I misread it to mean you wanted those already. They are in your inbox."

Them: "We need to process them."

Me (in my head): "No kidding...you're a rocket scientist."

Them: "we received some documentation..."

Me: "Yes, you did. I submitted an expedite request yesterday."

Them: "We are waiting on the results of that from the embassy."

Me: "This has been most unhelpful. Thank you."

Them: "Can I help you with anything else?"

Me: (in my head) "You HELPED??" (out loud) "No, thank you. Bye."

And yes, I spoke to a few agents. Jeez. Swift, swift monkeys... :bonk:

:bonk:
