NVC Filers - April 2012

Well, I have finally gotten my Case number and IIN, wooohooooo! However, I have a few questions for Saylin or anyone that can help because I got a mean lady on the phone with NVC and she made me really nervous and tongue-tied.

1. I tried to give her my and my spouse's email addresses and she said she didn't need them because she already has them, and everything will be emailed to us. So should I try calling back or just leave it at this (the lady didn't even let me read her our email addresses).

2. I am about to send in the DS3032 via email, but how will I know if they have accepted it? Do they ALWAYS send a rejection email if it is not accepted? If so, how soon after receiving it?

3. What should my next step be after sending the DS3032? I just logged in to the Payment Portal, but it won't let me select either the AOS Fee or IV Fee. Should I wait a few days?

Thanks!

First off, grats on finally getting your case number! kicking.gif

1. I'd call back and confirm with an operator the email addresses they have on hand for the beneficiary and petitioner. As far as I remember, there's no form that asks for the beneficiary's email in the I-130 petition, so I wonder how they know that.

2. The absolute one way of knowing your DS-3032 is accepted is by the IV bill being invoiced. But, in most cases, NVC replies to the email, either with a rejection or acceptance. Yes, they would send an email if it was rejected. I think it's taking around 7-10 days to respond to DS-3032 emails, might be faster, might be longer. NVC time frames change constantly as it depends how many others are emailing NVC.

3. Right now, you have to wait for the AOS to be invoiced. Should be either the end of this week or early next week. Then the IV bill will be invoiced a few days after DS-3032 acceptance. While you're waiting, get both packages ready to go.

Hm. Email comments seem to be on fire - got notification of my official name change AND address update (since they had that wrong too) - both this morning. Yee haw!

Woohoo!

And they had an address error too? Jeez, did they just glance at your file and start randomly typing in stuff for your file without double-checking? blink.gif You definitely deserve an expedite.

LOL...yeah, I didn't even mention the address error in the expedite letter. I think they let the new monkeys loose on my file LOL. And they must not have fed them enough bananas :P At least with the address, it was a former address - but we had formally changed it with USCIS and the update should have been included with our package. There have been two in this thread I believe. Usually takes a week or so, but it will vary by embassy/consulate as they have to forward the request to them.

Was it an auto response you got or did someone actually reply saying it was under review?

I think in your case, your interview will be in May, so no worries.

Yes I do belive someone actually replied to me since I got told never to put 2 case numbers in one email again! :bonk: But then they used standard stuff I'm sure but also included a little more contact info to both me and my husband than I had provided in my email to them. And they also sent info about which embassy we belonged to, like I didn't know that already

And I do hope you are right regarding your thoughts that our interview will be in may!

Never expect any update to be forwarded. They prefer to keep fresh information for themselves and forward the original old stuff they received. So much more fun to make you send in your new information AGAIN.

After CC I called NVC to inform them that my husband's address in the USA, thus the address where I intend to live and where I want to receive the GC, had changed. They told me it was updated, and I didn't need to bring updated forms (DS230 and I864) to the interview.

At the interview, they had never heard of the new address, and they wanted updated forms. Glad I brought them anyway...

Shell Good morning.Whats the update for AOS bill? Mine is still in process :crying:

Actually Bangladesh is on the list depending on the source: since it's classified you can always only find unofficial lists, and they vary. There's no way to know right now if you're gonna go through AP or not, it's a possibility. However it's generally resolved pretty quickly for female applicants, from what I've seen.

I've heard of people from Bangladesh gettinginto AP, not uncommon at all...

Well, that's a good sign that someone actually replied and are forwarding your request. You got through the NVC point of validating your request. I'm sure some don't even make it past that.
