Saylin,

Wanted to share that my email for DS230 was accepted and I just paid the AOS fees. Should I wait for the fees to show paid before I send out the AOS packet?

Also I would need your help on the packet....pleaseee help me.

Thanks

*DS-3032, not DS-230

Grats on the acceptance! The IV bill should be invoiced in a few days then.

And yes, I always recommend waiting for the bills to appear as PAID before sending off the package.

What do you need help with?

Saylin,

Question for you - My husband has sent me the DS230 and he has printed those double sided. Is that okay?

Um, not sure. It'd probably be better if it was one-sided. The reviewing office may not see it's double-sided and issue a checklist for the DS-230.

Oh #######. I will take a chance and state it on the cover sheet since it would take me more than 15 days to receive that again from him.

Here is my coversheet:

1. Bar-coded cover sheet

2. 2 passport-sized photographs of the beneficiary

3. Completed and signed form DS-230 Part I by the beneficiary

4. Completed and ‘unsigned’ form DS-230 Part 2 by the beneficiary

5. Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary’s passport

6. Non availability certificate for Birth Certificate in local language

7. Professionally certified Non availability translation certificate in English

8. Certified affidavit from father regarding the birth of the petitioner on the government authority’s (municipality) letterhead.

9. Certified marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner

10. Original police certificate of the beneficiary

Do I have everything?

Remember, there's a difference between cover sheet and cover letter.

Cover sheet = bar-coded paper from the payment portal

Cover letter = written personally by petitioner/beneficiary, listing out the documents in the package, with any notes (if necessary)

So, yes, write in your cover LETTER about the DS-230 being double-sided. I'd suggest even going further and putting a sticky note on the first page of the DS-230 stating it's double-sided. So in case the reviewing officer doesn't read the cover letter, then they should see the sticky note.

Besides that, your list looks good good.gif

No problem ^_^ If you mention the double-sided thing in the cover letter and add a sticky note on the first page of the DS-230, you should be fine good.gif

You just need to send a photocopy of the birth certificate and marriage certificate. Although, in your case, it doesn't seem like the beneficiary has a birth certificate, so just a photocopy of the marriage certificate in your case (in addition to the certified copy).

Exactly!! good.gif

The purpose of the photocopies of the birth and marriage certificates (and divorce ones, if applicable) is so you get the originals/certified copies back at the time of the interview. Then they keep the photocopies for their records.

Is it okay to just photocopy the certified copy of the marriage certificate?

Also what about the police certificate? Do I need to send a copy of that along with the original?

Yup, a photocopy is just that, a photocopy of the original/certified copy of the document. So, just photocopy the marriage certificate and send that with the certified copy.

And since you don't get the police certificate back, you don't need to include a photocopy of it.
