Question... do you guys think it's best to schedule the medical now, while we're waiting for the interview date?

Months ago we were told that it's wise to wait until the consulate receives your file (so after the interview is scheduled) so that have a file to match up with your medical results when they receive them.

On the other hand, I think I've heard elsewhere that as soon as you have an NVC case number, the consulate should be already set up to receive your medical results. Furthermore, if you discover your interview is scheduled only two weeks in advance, you may not be able to complete the medical in time if you wait to schedule it until after the interview date is set.

What do you guys think? :whistle:

Hi everyone, I received an email from NVC stating that line 25 on the AOS form did not match what's on my tax transcript. I hired a lawyer thinking I could avoid little mistakes like this but here I go, they also stated on the check list that my husband divorce decree is not original, they don't give original copies in south Africa only certified copies and the lawyer sent them the certified copy that my husband sent to them , this is very frustrating to me because I don't understand how the NVC do not recognize that the divorce decree is in fact a certified copy, it's stamp by the high courts. Is there anything I can do to prove to them that it's a certified copy

I have booked the medical for me and my son for the 13th of this month without having a interview date yet. I spoke to a person at the docs office and she said it happend quite often, the embassy told me it would be best to wait so that the medical exam wouldn't expire before the interview but since it's good for a year I decided to book it in advance.

I'm gonna have a baby at the end of april and I didn't wanna have to stress about the medicals after that incase we get a interviw date with a short notice. I probably would have book it in advance anyway, one less thing to worry about..

Fix the I-864 so line 25 matches exactly to the income listed on your transcript. If you filed a 1040 it's your TOTAL income, if you filed 1040EZ it is the ADJUSTED GROSS income. I have a feeling your lawyer used the adjusted gross income, even though you filed with a 1040.

Have your lawyer, or you, write a letter to NVC and explain to them at the situation with the divorce decree. That might fix the situation.

Pregnancy is a class B medical condition, which if I understood it right reduces the validity of the medical examination to 6 months, so be careful not to do the examination too early, because it will reduce the validity of your visa.

I have a class B condition, I had my medical on March 13, and my visa was issued on March 28 with an expiry date on Sept 12, so 6 months after medical rather than 6 months after visa issuance. It doesn't matter for me cause the difference is only 2 weeks and I'm leaving very soon, but it would make your visa validity very short if you did it several months early.

04/08/24: interview scheduled for 05/14. Received "We have taken an action in your case" email.

05/14/24: approved at interview, same-day oath ceremony in San Francisco 🥳 🇺🇸

Once NVC receives the DS-230 and other documents, if everything is good, how long does it take before the case is complete? And what is the next step after that? :whistle:

July 25 2011: Received NOA1 (hard copy)

February 16 2012: Approved!!!! (Received E-Mail from USCIS) NOA 2

It took 213 days before we got our NOA 2

NVC Stage

February 24 2012: NVC received the documents from USCIS

February 24 2012: Sent an email to NVC regarding DS 3032 (Assign an Agent)

February 27 2012: Case number assigned by National Visa Center

February 28 2012: Received an email from NVC telling me that they already received my DS 3032 (Assign an Agent) Now waiting for IIN

February 28 2012: Called NVC and I got my Invoice ID number, they told me to wait for the email before I can pay for it

February 29 2012: Received I-864/DS230 Invoice via E-Mail

February 29 2012: Paid I-864/IN PROCESS

February 29 2012: I-864 mailed from APO address (overseas)

NVC (30 days, March 12 to April 11. Case expedited due to NVC errors).

Montreal US Consulate, awaiting interview date (14 days, April 12 to April 26).

No I'm not doing it several months in advance so I'm not worried. Just waiting on the interview date now and we are expecting to move over in july, so even if it's only valid for 6 months we still have plenty of time..
