Mine was submitted last Thursday and tuesday i was informed by an operator that it has been denied. So we inform them additional evidence will be submitted today so they can keep opened our request and reconsider their decision

I found out by calling a couple times a day and asking the status of my expedite request. After about 9-10 days, I confirmed with three operators that it was approved. One day later, they sent us an official letter that Trav just received yesterday.

D'oh! I guess that means I have to start calling the NVC again. I was hoping I wouldn't have to talk to them again.

Thanks to both of you for sharing your experience. Rujby I hope you are able to get your expedite approved. Trav&Shell I hope you find out your interview date ASAP.

Sadly, you'll be talking to them until your case leaves for the embassy/consulate! you'll still need to ask them regularly "so has my case left for the embassy yet? do you need anything else to complete my file?" But at least it's easier to ask them that based on an approved expedite lol :) And thanks, the interview date should be soon...it's under review at montreal as we speak so...we shall see :)

hi everyone, just a few questions. if our interview has been scheduled, do i need to keep calling NVC for anything such as has my file been sent to the embassy? or is the fact that we have an interview schedule may 17th sufficient?

also, i am sending my husband the 2011 tax information, my father filed in time, so i am sending their 1040 and my mother (joint sponsor's) W'2 and her most recent pay stub. I am also sending my tax return transcript for 2011, my W2's just in case and my pay stub from my main employer. My other part time employer (restaurant) put the wrong initial for my middle name, so the pay stub shows it, do you think it's a problem?

finally, when sending all of these documents, do i need to address it to anyone? is there a format to follow so that they can look through the documents easily, or should i just include a similar cover letter as for the affidavit of support?

thanks everyone.

p.s. once he is approved (fingers crossed) is there still a possibility that they will deny him at the POE location???

I doubt the stub thing will be a problem. Paycheck stubs are optional.

He should put everything in an accordion folder and when they ask for something he can find it easily. (That's what has been suggested by everyone here)

Yes, They can. But it's really really rare. Usually it's because the immigrant had a criminal background that wasn't caught before, or some other offense that they did not file a waiver for.

Yes, both of you should be EXCITED!!! kicking.gif Remember the week when your expedite was approved? It's gonna happen again this week, but with an interview date yes.gif

Wait a min...Saylin...How on earth am I going to get everything done if the date REALLY is May 7?!?! :P GAH!!! so much to do so much to do....*whirls self into a frenzy* :)

Start planning! Where are you planning on getting the medical done? In Montreal or...?

I'd suggest making a list (not just mentally, but actually type/write it out) of everything you have to do before moving. This will help a lot. It did for me!

No, there's no need to call NVC/DOS after the interview has been assigned. The only reason people do is to see if their case has left and if it's been received by the consulate/embassy.

Glad you've got all the taxes done and ready to be sent good.gif And the middle initial mix-up shouldn't be a problem at all. Since pay stubs are optional in themselves, they won't issue you a checklist or something to get it fixed and then re-submit the pay stub no0pb.gif

What are you talking about a cover letter for? Aren't you just sending the documents to your husband overseas? unsure.gif *confused*

And yes, there is ALWAYS a chance he could be denied, whether he has a visa or not. The border officers have the ULTIMATE power to decide whether to let someone through or not, again, whether you have a visa or not. But, this is extremely RARE if you have a visa. I have only ever seen ONE case of this happening. A fellow Canadian had received a K1 visa, but got denied at POE due to a previous criminal charge. The officers thought he hadn't disclosed this to the government/consulate, so they denied him. Even though he did disclose it on the appropriate forms. So, he got married and re-filed for a CR-1 visa. Last time I checked, he was approved at the interview, but is in AP due to needing a waiver. If I remember correctly, his VJ member name was codybanks, or something along those lines.

EDIT: Yes, that's his VJ name, and looks like his waiver got approved and is no longer in AP as of the end of March! :)

I had planned on medical in Toronto because i have a friend that lives 10 minute walk from the doc's office. But...will I have time? And can we eat the cost of hotel if I do it in Montreal and just stay there until the interview?! Sigh. So many questions. And you must be a mind reader about the list - Sheeshka and I just talked about making lists in FB :P

Yay for hyper-ness! kicking.gif

Well, if you can stay at your friend's place in Toronto for a few days, then you can get the medical done and pick up the results, while saving on hotel costs (if you do it in Montreal instead), plus you'll have the medical results in hand well before the interview, compared to getting it done in Montreal and stressing about having them in time.

LOL...I had to eat lunch early because with the hyperness, the coffee was REALLY a bad idea this morning :) Yeah, I had planned to spend about 4 days with my friend - I'm going to cook a lasagna so cheesy, it breaks her oven rack with the weight LOL :D Haven't seen her in a few years, and it may be a while with this move...but if the interview's may 7, I have to get in NEXT WEEK...wonder if they schedule medicals that quick?

That should be plenty of time in Toronto as most results are ready within 3 days (in Canada). I remember when I booked my medical, the operator told me that there were plenty of bookings and I could pick any date I wanted and it would most likely be available. So I selected a date the very next week and it was absolutely no problem. Not sure how busy Dr Seidens is though in Toronto. You can always call them up and see what their availability is looking like. No need to schedule it yet, but still good to know for the future ;)

That should be plenty of time in Toronto as most results are ready within 3 days (in Canada). I remember when I booked my medical, the operator told me that there were plenty of bookings and I could pick any date I wanted and it would most likely be available.
