I have question about the I-864 for the Joint Sponsor:

My joint sponsor is above the poverty line, and does not need her husband's income to get over the poverty line. Should my joint sponsor add his name to line 24 b with his income? Or can my joint sponsor just put N/A?

If she won't be using her spouse's income, then she could just put N/A.

Do you know, we paid our IV fee using Safari (Mac OS) and had NO problems? And I was halfway through the transaction when I remembered that their system is supposed to be IE-exclusive. Go figure!

[...]

I'ts not that it's IE-exclusive, it's just that the payment portal works BEST in Internet Explorer as the site was designed specifically for that browser.

Thanks! I wonder if I called and asked again and asked if I could find out what day the case # was assigned if they would still have that info? Worth a shot anyways.

and thanks IslandLady!

You could always try!

You mean at the I-130 stage?

It's very rare to get called in for a local interview, but it does happen. As far as I've seen, you're the only one in this thread that has.

Well yesterday I received an email saying that I have been invoiced, but I did not see anything all day yesterday. Today in the morning it was still $0, but after I saw a few of us here actually see the invoice and pay, I decided to check again. At first nothing was there, but I checked again an hour later before my lunch break and BAM there was the invoice :wow::yes:

Thanks for responding and congrats on getting through that! :)

Oh yay! I just called and I do have a case # assigned and an IIN! Gave them the email for me and my husband so I'm so happy now :)

Yay, congrats!!! :)

That's odd. My attorney made it sound like a normal thing everyone has to go through, because she told me from day one that I would have an interview. I had to go through that before mine would be approved which is one reason I think it has taken so long... Weird.

It's not normal AT ALL. It's very rare to get a local interview. I've only seen a handful of people here on VJ get one throughout my year and a half here. Were there any red flags with your case?

I just did a quick google search and I believe that I have discovered why. My husband was brought here when he was four and was caught while crossing the border and was issued a voluntary departure order, yet never left until he turned eighteen. Apparently if you have any order like that you have to go to an I-130 interview.

Yeah, there's usually some underlying thing like that. It's good you had a lawyer though. Usually when there's an issue over deportation an attorney is the best way to go.

I'm still the USCIS record holder (for the past year) with out an RFE.. yay me!

That would explain it yes.gif So, it wasn't a bona fide problem, it was a former issue with leaving. You might want to look into and see if this will be a problem at the interview at the embassy. A waiver might be needed, but I'm not certain.

Oh wow sheeshkabelle :o

And yes Saylin he will need a waiver, he will have the 10 year ban, so my case is not to be judged as anything near normal processing times

Yeah, because of your husband's past, your case will definitely take longer than most average cases. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the waiver approved, and he's in the US by the end of the year.
