it seems there's always something to worry about with this process. Didn't think about it at all when initial docs were sent off to USCIS but that turned out to be much quicker than expected and then each stage has it own worry and even now I have the visa there is the worry of selling our house. It never ends I tell you.

Trying to let go of the worry is really hard. Who needs the stress, right? On the other hand - if someone didn't do the worrying, would anything get done? It's an annoyingly vicious cycle...

I am gonna use my wife email account to contact the US embassy in Haiti

I sent another email to the IV Unit at the Santiago Embassy this morning asking them how the expedite process works. They have been very helpful up to this point. They replied to me with this:

Mr. Rogers:

Usually the NVC will contact the consular officer directly for a determination. Normally the consul will accept the expedite process for immigration cases and the NVC will send the cases without an appointment directly to us.

Upon receiving the case , we contact the petitioner directly in order to schedule a final appointment as soon as possible.

Wow, first off, I gotta applaud them for responding so quickly AND actually giving you a good answer (instead of giving #######).

And I like that part too about normally accepting expedite requests

I have a feeling they normally accept expedite requests because they don't get a lot of immigration visa applicants through that embassy.

Just see that the IV bill has finally been invoiced. Though its good to pay only 230 $ but not worth it to waste almost 8 days to save 174 $. I would have gladly paid that and gotten a case complete by now.

Always worth a shot! Keep in mind though, Montreal is nowhere near as fast as Chile And as far as a I know, less responsive.

Yeah, I'm sure because there's less activity there, compared to Canada for example, then expedite requests probably have a better chance of being approved. Good luck!

Keep in mind, if you're contacting the embassy in Haiti, it is alright if you email them in French. It doesn't have to be in English.

LOL...clearly they're not I called earlier this morning. My file is still pending. SIGH. I've also contacted the congressman. Yesterday I was told my file isn't even in Montreal yet even though LAST WEEK apparently it was so...guess pending is progress?
