Good review good.gifToo bad the CO seemed a little rushed and such. But, regardless, you got approved, and I think that's what counts in this case ;)

I'm glad they've started to require DHL/Loomis confirmation pages as it probably reduces the amount of errors (not signing up before hand). Although, if it wasn't for VJ, I wonder how many people actually know to sign up for and bring along the confirmation.

I've also got a question. You mention them reading off the computer details from the DS-260. Did they not ask you for a DS-230? Has Montreal finally gotten used to the online form?!?!?! ohmy.gif

And nice lady at DHL crossing off an item on your list ;)laughing.gif

Grats again ;)

Approval is what counts in the end although I had no idea until she actually said it that I was going to get approved. And no congratulations or welcome to America from her.

When you get your notification letter for interview, it gives you the link for the government page for interviews and Montreal's info which I think is 4 pages does have about registering with Loomis and the links and everything but the info page for Montreal is confusing as it is for K1s as well as other types of visas but doesn't say which one it is referring to. Because the Loomis doc had been mentioned many times on here I knew what to look out for.

No DS-230. Although I did have one prepared and I didn't mention it in the review as we're past the 15th but they didn't ask for 2011 taxes.

And the lady at Loomis/DHL I didn't know whether to say give me my envelope or you ought to be on VJ and train people. :)

update: hubby got mad and called nvc again and spoke to an operator since supervisors leave work early. turned out that they messed up our package from the beginning (started with assigning us to the wrong consulate, etc) and they never checked our EP optin, so no one checked our ds260 package. this operator said he can see a few errors by nvc in our file and he will flag it to a supervisor's attention. he said when we call back tomorrow and get a status update from a supervisor, we'll be able to get an interview date right away if they completed the case by then, because our case is now out of regular processing time frame.

based on our 66 phone correspondences with NVC to date, the above sounds too positive to be true..for one, supervisors won't ever admit nvc did anything wrong. anywaysss, back to waiting. dont ever wanna call nvc ever again.

Saylin, any advice for those of us waiting to start this part (due to waiting for our case numbers) so we can make sure our cases are assigned to the correct consulate, etc. and not find out about these issues later?

And the lady at Loomis/DHL I didn't know whether to say give me my envelope or you ought to be on VJ and train people. :)

Yeah, I know they mention DHL somewhere, but you'd really have to be joined to a site like this to know how to do everything. It's so very easy to miss something if not!

And that is EXCELLENT news about the DS-230/DS-260. I'm going to have to keep an eye on upcoming interviews at Montreal to see if this is the case and you not being asked was just a fluke. But by the sounds of it, it might not be required if they can see the DS-260 on their computers.

So after I optin to ep is there a way u kind check my aos and IV bills? Or do I have to wait for the invoice number

The only way you can sign onto the payment portal is with your case number and IIN. If you don't have the IIN, call an operator asap and ask for the 'Invoice Identification Number'. They'll give it to you.

And remember, the IV bill will NOT be invoiced until AFTER the Choice of Agent form has been accepted. In your case, the DS-261 which is completed online. To sign onto the forms portal, you'll need your case number and IIN. And to complete the form, they ask for the 'Beneficiary Identification Number', something you should also ask of the operator.

Have you read any guides or my wiki about the NVC process?

Saylin, any advice for those of us waiting to start this part (due to waiting for our case numbers) so we can make sure our cases are assigned to the correct consulate, etc. and not find out about these issues later?

It's rare that NVC messes up on assigning the case number. It's usually due to the beneficiary living in a different country at some point. They get confused at times. There's really no way for you to be proactive and make sure they assign the right one. In your case, is Canada the only country that's been lived in or are there others? If Canada is the only one, then the chances a wrong consulate will be assigned is extremely slim.

CONGRATS!

Yup, there's nothing there! Doesn't let me select anything and there is nothing under "IV Application Processing Fees" ...says "Total Amound Selected: $0"

Hopefully they fix it soon. Silly NVC making silly errors headbonk.gif

Thanks Saylin I really appreciate your prompt replies..this whole visa thing is becoming very frustrating for me to the point where I'm having the thought of just canceling the whole application and make plans for my husband move to Canada instead. Although job prospects are much better for him in the states, I could be getting a promotion at work here if I'm not moving to the states anytime soon. Last thing we need now on top of a pile of uncertainties are any more delays and silly administrative errors. Who really wants to live in the US of A anyways

...wow. Your case sort of sounds like mine, only I caught the errors and told THEM what they did wrong. That's how I got expedited, actually - because they messed up and I found it. I thought I read a news article somewhere actually, that was reporting on the number of NVC errors in recent months...anyone else seen this?

...wow. Your case sort of sounds like mine, only I caught the errors and told THEM what they did wrong. That's how I got expedited, actually - because they messed up and I found it. I thought I read a news article somewhere actually, that was reporting on the number of NVC errors in recent months...anyone else seen this?

we've BEEN telling them what they did wrong each time we caught it: the case number/consulate, the EP optin, the ds-261, the expedite request, the ds-260, etc. depending on whom we talked to and I guess depending on the color of the sky that day, some supervisors were more willing than others to admit what they did wrong. one of them denied there were any errors at all. our luck with the nvc is so crappy that it's almost funny cus they even screwed up on our expedite request a few weeks back, which caused the held up on our ds-261, etc etc.

They didn't ask us for the DS-230 back in March either. They had printed out all the pages from the DS-260.

Wow, that's really good to know! I'm gonna have to edit my wiki (and my future posts) to reflect this.

Yup, there's nothing there! Doesn't let me select anything and there is nothing under "IV Application Processing Fees" ...says "Total Amound Selected: $0"

Hmm, weird. I know in many cases, after the invoice email is received, it still takes a few hours to actually be invoiced. But that email is a good sign that NVC might actually be releasing the IV invoices shortly! Just keep checking the payment portal site yes.gif

Don't quit now, you're so very close to the end! You're on the homestretch now ;)

I have't. If you can find the article again, I'd love to read it!
